Stimulant based medication affects sleep and appetite and it is a known thing so makes sense that those two areas improved for you when you got off the medication. From my experience and also doctors advice it’s not a good idea to quit cold turkey. You want to gradually reduce your dosage until you are no longer using it. Btw I have the same issues as you mentioned memory loss, don’t seem to speak logically and concisely, irritated by small things, hyper focused on one thing which leads to long hours and nothing to show for at the end. I have also been looking into alternatives and here is what I have found so far from folks in this bowl nd my research online. Limit caffeine, exercise daily, get sunlight or use SAD lamps, eat a nutritious diet, lions mane mushroom for focus (do ur research on this before u take it), vitamin D supplements (again do ur research), co working spaces (in person or virtual- they have an app for this where u join a virtual call with other strangers and use it as a coworking space) etc., limit screen use during night times and especially before you go to bed, prioritize tasks (Eisenhower matrix). I am sure there is more and it’s easier said than done lol. hopefully there are some things here that you can try.
D3 thanks so much for this. I’ve been looking into Lions Mane but is there a particular brand you recommend?
I got off this last year, prioritized running 3x a week and weights 2x a week. My focus, memory, sleep improved significantly.
In my experience, no pill, or supplement will replace hard work, problem is most people won’t put in the effort.
My husband drinks mushroom coffee. He also decided to come off vyvanse. We body double when he really needs to focus on work. Do you go into the office? If not, maybe try a coworking space
D1 - can you share the mushroom coffee your husband uses?
My spouse comes off Adderall during the weekends and holidays. He is an EPIC asshole when not on it.
There are a lot of alternatives to stimulants for ADHD. Talk to your psychiatrist about using a different kind of medication. I will add that they gradually were off and are not as effective over time, but you should feel comfortable asking your doctor to change back to stimulants after you've had a break for a while.
In what way do you feel better? What was it detracting from?
I really was not eating much at all and I know this sounds strange, but there were times where I literally felt like words were falling out of my head. My memory has gotten worse on Vyvanse and I get so hyper fixated on one thing that anything else going on in my life or around me I pay no attention or feel no emotion for. I felt numb and dull.
over the last couple of days I’ve slept better, eaten regular meals, been able to hold conversations and I don’t feel exhausted at the end of the day so have been able to exercise.

I find Yerba mate helps. I switched from coffee
There is no substitute for hard work.
