I used to think burnout was just part of the job, but I genuinely don’t think I’ve felt joy at work in years. Tax busy season this year pushed me over the edge. I was getting up in the middle of the night with heart palpitations, and still logging in for 14-hour days like nothing was wrong. I’m trying to find a new role, but every time I prep for interviews, I freeze. How do you explain burnout without sounding like you can’t handle pressure? How do you talk about this in a way that doesn’t tank your chances?

I recently had an initial interview for a technical recruiter position. The guy on the phone stated that this is not a 9-5 job and long hours are expected. I proceed to ask how much PTO is offered and he said that is not recommend within the first 6 months of working and the harder you work the more PTO you receive. From that conversation, I saw instant red flags. Any thoughts?

I'm trying to choose between IBM Corporate Strategy and Innosight. I like both opportunities. Innosight pays more, but I've never had a big brand like IBM on my resume. Additionally, I'm worried whether Innosight's exit opportunities are slimmer than IBM. Would anyone have some advice on what I should pick / how I should think about this?

An agency recruiter is trying to convince me to move into a GSVP account role, assuring me "at that level it's all strategy." (I dont think she understands the words she's using. Or that I'm qualified). But long-term, knowing account roles are so much more plentiful than brand planning in PR, I'm wondering if I should start thinking about account. Anyone here moved from strategy to account?

Is moving to management track better that being an IC as specialist role? I have currently 2 offers with slight difference in package whereby ic role is fetching more price since I am using my 1st offer to counter. But 1st offer being a management track, I am more inclined to it. Any suggestions.

Anyone have slow months where you burn through a lot of your allotted pro bono/professional development hours to keep hitting minimum daily hours? The past few weeks have been like this for me. Should I be concerned (I.e., will this reflect poorly on me, come review time? Will I have dug myself too much of a hole if I keep burning my non-billable hours?) I’ve been asking partners if I can assist in any projects so I can fill my plate, but I’ve only gotten small (4-6 hour) tasks handed my way.

I am 24 year old Salesforce Developer with 1.5 Years of Experience. I’m not from an English speaking country but I am watching a tv show and businessmen walk into a room and instead of greeting eachother, everyone says each person’s first name in lieu of hi, however in my experience working in the states, I haven’t seen anyone do this, it’s always hi or good afternoon or some other greeting first THEN they say their first name. is it also appropriate to omit the greeting?
