Microsoft is hiring an account executive and I’m really interested in the role. I have B2B sales experience in a different industry, but my skills include lead generation, prospecting, account management, negotiating, etc (all within the C Suite and other decision makers).
Would appreciate knowing if this is something I have a shot at with no tech sales experience and what I could expect for promotional opportunities and compensation.
Thanks for the help!

Be an Account Manager!
There are positions in sales that don't require cold calling, or require very little of it. But if you're starting out and say you don't want to do cold calling you may set yourself back in interviews. It's in some ways a rite of passage. But you should look for positions in customer success, account management, or enterprise sales.
The dream job in sales is one with a high income where the customers come to you for the product or service you are offering. They know what you are selling and that is what they want. At that point, all you have to do is convince them that your product/service is the best choice to meet their needs and/or budget. You are also selling yourself, as the "service after the sale" contact for them now and in the future. Finding that dream job is the hard part. Of course, there's auto dealerships, retail stores, well-known ad agencies, etc. where cold calls are not needed. Other than that, I'm afraid it is a necessary -- albeit inefficient -- way to produce sales.
If you are technical, you could be a Sales Engineer. SE jobs are more about the business benefits and use cases for how your solution helps the customer. Explaining how your technology works and how it fits with other things the customer might already have. No cold calling and more being a trusted advisor.
Med device sales is a great field!
Retail sales typically do not require cold calling. However they also don't typically pay as much as the more aggressive sales techniques do. Largely because the retail entity will be working for spends a lot of money marketing to bring people through their doors. Feel like most things in life you choose this or that and you make trades.
