If your agency has preached a lot about inclusivity, how do they support you if you’re forced to work with homophobic and racist clients on a daily basis?

Am I particularly uptight, or is writing meant to be done alone, without a partner talking to you? With past partners, we chat through script notes and then I go off to execute. Current partner likes to sit and chat as I write. To me, writing is crafting a conversation. So I can’t talk to you and simultaneously talk to this audience. I’ll go first: MP told me that on initial emails, I am always to start with “Hello [name],” but after the initial email, I am not to address her by name again in the same thread. There’s a senior architect at my firm that’s absolutely toxic as heck but on Fridays, he becomes his alter ego. All like “Happy Friday!” and “you’re very welcome” and “hope you have a fantastic weekend!” No joke, he really is a different person.

Could I pull off asking my manager from J1 for approval of freelancing on the side? It’s quite common anyway for designers I think. And then my j2 can be “freelance” even though it’s full time?

My natural instinct is to assume rejection if I have conflict with a partner or don’t think my feelings are reciprocated. I’ll try to bring it up with them, but I’ll say “if you want to end this feel free” so it doesn’t hurt me (and they can say what they really mean instead of sugarcoating). Taking my shot in tech sales. Consulting was great experience but enjoyed the relationship and BD aspect more and didn’t see myself climbing to partner. Starting in a junior BD Rep role to learn prospecting and earn quota history. Took a big paycut for the potential future earnings as an Account Exec. Did I dun goof? Probably. But I’ll regret it forever if I didn’t take my chance now when I’m still single and young-ish.

Just wanted to say, as a guy in my mid-20’s, cheers to all the 30-40+ y/o LGBTQIA+ folks here—I know we roll our eyes at the performative rainbows on everything now, but you folks made this possible for the rest of us—you fought for acceptance, for our rights, and you made it through the struggle so people my age don’t have the same weight to carry, so we don’t have to be as afraid.
We have a long way to go, and I’ll carry the torch too, but I really think y’all deserve more gratitude. Happy 🏳️‍🌈

I’m sure it’s not new to 2022, but I’m feeling more than ever this year how much of “corporate pride” centers around gay men and calls it “lgbtq”. Are gay women, bisexuals, etc. not as palatable for audiences? I’m struggling with this a bit.

My partner hates my long working hours.

It is really hard to do well in this business without sacrifice and my partner doesn't like it. To be fair that sacrifice is her... Most nights,over the weekend, and during every meal. She deserves better but I either sacrifice time or sacrifice earning potential.
