I started a new role 3 months ago and I don’t feel like I’m being set up to succeed. There was basically no onboarding. I have no clue who to go to for anything. We have no central repository for old documents, so I’m constantly fumbling around & starting from zero. How important is campus design and office aesthetic, and general internal branding and experience to you when choosing a job? Probably for jobs outside of FAANG - more like when you're feeling out the place. To me it matters a lot in terms of experience of it but also because it tends to show how forward thinking the company is.

I work with someone who always makes subtle digs at my code. Like they’ll say good job… and then they’ll say there’s space to refactor/improve code quality and we can handle that later. I get that you can always improve code but it’s so irritating. Any advice?

So a company I interviewed with took me to the final round but rejected me for an architect role. Then, two months later the hiring manager hits me up for a manager role he thought I would be a good fit before the job was posted. We had a call and he said he thought I would be a long shot replying back to him. Also, he said everyone liked me and no need to interview. He said he has to post it and let HR do their thing before he can make a final decision. Why post a job if you want me for it?

It used to be the case that you could never say anything in the slightest negative about your old position/employer/etc when applying for a new job. I have had a gap in my tech résumé for a bit, as I’ve had some negative experiences (typical ones for women in technology) that have come to light in recent years to the public. Since that is now the case… Is it now OK to say that I left my last position because of toxic company culture, or something of the sort? Or still a huge NO-NO?
