I’m four months into my job and I got put onto a PIP. I worked so hard to break into IB, put up all the hours and even working 2am nights for weeks, learned a ton, and improved a lot along the way as the sole analyst yet this happens. I’m extra worried because it doesn’t seem there’s IB analyst positions out there. Im really hoping come January more positions come up but I’m just praying they don’t fire me until then. I’m currently in a lease admin type role, in commercial real estate. I make a base salary of $50.5K with about $9k in bonuses. I’ve continuously received 7-10% raises over the last 3 years. I anticipate getting a promotion this year and would like to get closer to $60k for my base salary. I’m the only person in my role at the company and have been a key person in developing our team as we look to expand. Is this unreasonable? Is there a normal increase given with promotions? Today I learned a new thing. One candidate was referred by a colleague of mine in the system. He got selected and offer letter rolled out.

When he checked the system he realized the referral was not taken and the background system captured it as direct hire.

So my friend is not going to get any referral incentive.

Think about this for a minute... why would you sell a book? Because you didn't want it anymore or it was beyond its useful life, kinda like an old car... it's old, rusty and needs more maintainence than it provides useful transportation, it's in the repair shop more often... everytime it goes in you find something else wrong with it? Plus, the prices the buyers are willing to pay are outrageous, by the time you get it paid off it's in the junk yard. No easy solution to building a sustainable business except hard, persistent work.
