That’s a strange thing for your Mom to say if the U.S. didn’t invade Iraq until Spring 2003 🧐

Funny to see this post; I (American) am married to a Moroccan and we are talking about this exact issue. We in America really thought we were doing the right thing at the time, fighting against terrorism etc. He pointed out to me news articles of civilian bombings and global protests from back then that basically painted the US as … well, not the heroes, to put it mildly.
It’s been eye opening in the last decade or so for me to finally view Americans outside of the media propaganda we’ve been inundated with our entire lives.
KPMG - I think most Americans didn’t think to ask ourselves why we were hated so much by Arabs. It’s easier to paint the”other” as evil than to push to understand what our government is doing under our name that we aren’t aware of.
Frankly, the private media/news we have is not much better than the state sponsored media/news of China and Russia in the sense that it’s not critical of the US and serves note to entertain and distract than inform.
I’ve learned more about the US watching news about us in Europe, South America, and Africa than within our own country, which is unacceptable and only getting worse.
The better analogy is the word turning on and attacking Russia and Russians thinking it’s because the attackers are terrorists and not understanding that it’s because they attacked civilians and were seen as evil.
This should also make us wonder if “our” media is telling us the whole truth in the current war. Bombing civilians is clearly evil. But pretending like the US didn’t intentionally egg Putin on by supporting Ukraine’s aspirations toward NATO and unnecessarily supporting the split of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church away from the Russian Orthodox Church is either naive or intentionally obfuscating the US government’s responsibility in this.
BA1 - any in particular you recommend? I trust Propublica and appreciate their fight for disclosure of companies that obtained PPP loans and got them forgiven.
Bush in 1999?
Corrected it. Thanks for the catch. 1999 I was Argentina.

It’s not a US-thing. Aggressors always have to paint a pretty picture for their own people to justify what they’re doing. Just like crusades used christianity. US uses freedom.
The US-thing is you guys do it more than any country in our century probably 😂
