In this market consider the perm role.
Thank you. I’m also considering culture and work like balance as I’m a single mom. The perm role will require some travel and overtime, so I’m weighing my options. Thank you for your insight as the market is horrible right now. I’ve been unemployed since Feb so making the right choice is vital.
I would take the perm position. Today’s market is brutal. I have sent hundreds of resumes to open positions with very little response over the last year. Luckily I’m employed, just looking for a more rewarding position with better benefits. I would take the perm position if I had that choice.
I'm assuming the contract position is 1099, correct? So the $20K "more" gets eaten up by your having to pay your own Social Security tax of over 13%.
Yes it’s 1099 and you make a valid point. The contract is come in with talent and skills I already am strong in while the f/t needs a lot of fixing in the HR department. I mean I would basically have to come in a do a revamp of the recruiting process implement HR practices all for 80k. The Glassdoor reviews a pretty brutal. This seems like a director role. This seems pretty easy choice but I’m considering all angels. I pretty sure the contract will convert me once the 4 months is up but you never know. Good problems to have in this market though right now.
I read through the other responses and your comments on each of them. It is clear to me that you want to take the contractor role. Good luck!
I have taken a higher risk option before and it added pressure I did not expect. I would personally lean towards the stable role unless I had a strong backup plan.
I would go with the permanent position. Specially now a days what's the situation of the job markets ill prefer this.
