Hormones, best you can do is be consistent with cleanser and moisturizer.
Lots of water, 32 oz average.
I’d suggest seeing a dermatologist. I thought I had acne in that area but it turned out it was very mild perioral dermatitis (if you google it, extreme cases look really scary but mild cases can look like acne!). Anyway I needed a combo of topical stuff. And, if it is acne, a good dermatologist can help with that too.
I had this issue up to last year. Tried a heap of stuff and eventually bit the bullet and went to a dermatologist.
AM
Benzoyl peroxide wash (OTC)
Clindamycin solution (prescription)
Moisturizer (I use la roche posay)
Sunscreen (I always come back to elta md)
PM
La roche posay cleanser for oily skin
Retinol (prescription)
Vanicream
It took about two months to kick in but when it did, there was no looking back. My skin gets better every week as well.
Definitely suggest saving time and money on drugstore/Sephora/Ulta stuff and getting a real diagnosis to combat sooner rather than later.
I had this at one point and thought it was hormones and tried everything. It was actually my gut. Once I got my gut health in check, the acne was gone. Acne comes from within, so topical solutions wont get at the root of the problem.
Introduced a high quality probiotic, changed my diet to low FODMAP, limited alcohol and caffeine, and took l glutamine. I havent had acne since and I had struggled with it for a decade
I've been told it's because I touch my face a lot, like leaning onto my palm when I'm working at my desk. Just try to keep your hands away from your face as much as possible and be consistent with your routine, making sure to cleanse thoroughly.
Are you on the pill or have recently come off of it? That's what hapoened to me and I had really bad breakouts around my U-zone. It can lead to overproduction of sebum because of the hormonal changes.
Yep I had this issue and was on the pill. I switched to an IUD and it went away.
Another vote for checking gut health - I broke out like crazy and it quickly resolved itself when I started taking probiotics and introducing those foods into my diet. Hormones are definitely a part of that, but might want to check your diet though
I had this issue and found out it was actually due to my toothpaste and SLS. Sensory r does not have SLS. Might be worth a try!
Hey do you mean sensodyne? Now that you said it I think it might be my trigger. I recently switched from sensodyne to something else and that’s when my acne has worsened
Go see a dermatologist!
If you can’t, look up Differin Gel (adapalene). Best thing you can get without a prescription. Helped me immensely with my hormonal acne! Do your research though because you have to stick with it for a while before you see results
Probably hormones. Makeup can also cause this. For starters, you can use mild, oil-free cleanser with salicylic acid.
Hi! I struggled with the same thing. I found Benzoyl peroxide effective. I have been using these creams every night or every other night.
Check your moisturizer. Using one that isn't oil-based could help. It helped with mine.

This is the same kind of acne I get.
1. Cerave foaming acne wash but in the shower only because it will bleach fabrics / Cerave gentle cleanser when I wash my face in the sink
2. Retinol in the PM only, Differin is a good one to start with
3. Moisturizer I like Versed Dew Point
4. In the AM, cleanse then use Vitamin C, I like InnBeauty Project vitamin c serum
5. Moisturize then sunscreen
I’m going to link another comment I wrote a few days ago about how to effectively use retinol.

Another thought: are you stressed and putting your hand over your chin/mouth? The oil from your hands can definitely increase acne in that area.
Whenever I get pustules around my chin area, I always think about my pillow case. So whenever an acne surfaces on my chin I immediately change my pillow case. I'm a pillow-hugger so I immediately think that that's the problem.
That might either be the cause of lack of exfoliation, hormones, and bacteria. Try to fix the problem that's easy to deal with. Start with the exfoliating first and then try to do some cleaning frenzy on every single that has contact with your skin.
Have you been wearing scarves lately? That could be it. I recently went to my dermatologist about my chin acne only to find out it was because the scarves I wore were trapping the moisture on my skin. I couldn't really help it since it's pretty cold here in my city.
Use salicylic acid! It'll help break down the oil in the pores and exfoliate your skin to get rid of the dead skin cells.
Struggled with acne for years! Now, I think I got everything under control. Well, I do still get one or 2 pimples in a month. But somehow, pimples on my chin area stayed. I don't understand why.
I always develop pustules on my chin! It's frustrating because it's really painful. I was able to get rid and manage all of my other pimples but the pustules on my chin are just so stubborn!
