I’m working with a dev lead who seems to be frustrated with the workload for an upcoming release and challenged with using JIRA (new tool for team). How do you deal with a dev lead who is just rude to you in meetings? (happened once to me, i let it go)

I try to address the underlying issue through empathy. "I can see you're under a ton of pressure - you must be super stressed right now! I don't want to add to your plate, but is there any way you could help me with XYZ when you have a minute?" It doesn't always work, but most of the time it does. I use the same approach with the general public, like cashiers or waitstaff. I open the conversation by making eye contact, acknowledging their stress or bad day, and you'd be amazed at how quickly their attitude turns around.

I would also watch the amount change. Moving to jira abs having a busy release doesn’t sound great at once. Pick one battle and go for it. I would also book some time one on one with dev lead to clear the air not always people are aware of their actions

Discuss the issue with your manager or team lead and provide them with details of the incident. They may be able to offer guidance or intervene to address the situation. It's important to have support from higher-level stakeholders who can address behavioral issues within the team.

I had an old boss join my company recently. They weren’t my direct report at my old company, but was my manager’s manager. Well, my new boss took me aside for a meeting and stated “there’s a negative perception going around about you”. She stated that her, my old boss and another member of current leadership were talking about the way I speak. She then says that my former boss told them that I wasn’t energetic enough in my last role. How should k handle this? My boss is agreeing with her

How to ask for a raise when you have more responsibility ?
Is it normal for people to ask for a raise when more responsibility/task fall under them? My company is going through separation and unfortunately my team is the one getting separated, I have to take on responsibility of another 3 people and continue to deliver the same after separation… how will you start this conversation with your manager ? Thanks in advance.

Hi all! I was asked coordinate a local happy hour for my team. The issue I’m having is that I’m currently pregnant and am not sure if I’m comfortable to hang out with strangers. What’s the most professional way to say no without hurting feelings / burning bridges? Or should I suck it up and go?

I have a new client who, I think, got bad legal advice from someone else she consulted with. From the information I have, there is no way she gets to the numbers I do. I work in a pretty small legal community. How do I address this delicately? My client is hung up on “but that’s not that X said” even though I’ve explained it multiple times and way. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Since you all are wise, I have a question, not really a confession though…but I will add a confession at the end..

If you submit to a specific role at a large company and they reject you for the role you applied, would you still be on file if there are other roles that are a match? Or, do you have to apply to each role? I am thinking it is the latter.

Confession question…how often do you stalk exes or people you used to work with? Like someone will come to mind and I will immediately (cont)

29% of your rejected candidates will completely sever their relationship with your company if they have a negative experience.
