You should ask the barber directly, “Hey I’ve noticed the person that picked up the phone referred to you as x, what pronoun do you prefer”?

like

Call them by their name?

“Thanks so much for the cut, it looks great! I noticed the person at the front desk used she/her/hers as your pronouns and realized I never asked what your pronouns are. Mine are he/him/his.”

like

And if you don’t want to ask you could always just use “they”

Are using names too old fashioned now?!

Your barber probably prefers you refer to them as something gender neutral. In this comment, I mentioned you, your barber, and myself, eight times and nobody knows any of our genders.

I've been going to the same barber for like 5 years... Don't think I've used her third person pronouns in that entire time. Mostly because I'm speaking to her in second person using "you" and her first name. Suppose it doesn't hurt to ask in your case.

Hello all, how can we approach the gender pay gap at our respective employers? I know I’ve mentioned it before but it seems to make Culture & Talent, as well as Legal cringe. I don’t expect them to publish salaries, nor do I wish this, I just want to see what steps we can take to make our voices heard. Let’s open the floor up for ideas and suggestions!!

BAH and “diversity”. A joke. Are you represented at your firms senior leadership levels? The BAH office here on the west coast addressed the BLM during a virtual all hands a few weeks ago or so. They asked a black employee to make a statement about it (typical) but what really irked me is how they showed a senior leadership offsite photo. This photo consisted of all the SAs and above. 16 people. All white, 1 black. No Asians, no Hispanic, no IPOC. How diverse is your senior team?
