Is it always best to bring some issue up to your manager if there is turmoil between you and your peers?

Depends on the cause of the turmoil. You don't want to be like kindergartner tattling that "Tommy won't stop looking at me" or "Lisa's picking her nose again." If it affects the quality of the work product or involves some form of personal infringement, then skip the turmoil and go directly to the manager. If it doesn't, tell the cause of the conflict to enroll in Florida University (FU) and focus on your responsibilities and leave them to flounder and fail on their own.

I see, thank you for the input!

In my opinion yes but only if you have tried handling it on your own and haven't been successful. I try to solve things on my own before bothering my manager with it but sometimes it has to be escalated.

I believe trying to work it out between yourselves is the best approach. But it also depends on the severity too.

Only if the coworker is a repeat offender who doesn't want to be held accountable and whatever issue it is, it's getting in the way of my work. I always advise people to document what’s happening even with dates. That way it will never reflect poorly on you as you’re not complaining from an emotional standpoint.

I like that. Having dates/timeline would help out.

I recommend trying to work things out with your peer, but maintain your Manager informed about the situation and how do you handled it. This would not take them by surprise if there are future issues.

Yes, that seems to be the general thought from everyone. I totally agree. Work it out first between yourselves and then escalate if needed.

Frustrating… I don’t like my associate
He’s been on the project for 6 months and doesn’t do anything and isn’t willing to learn anything but some how is still employed . I’m not the type to get someone fired and you know … have prbs paying bills . So I haven’t professionally complained about him but for F*** sake I’m losing my patience … feeling guilty to take his bread and complain … looking for new project … idk what to do

I'm a cashier. We just got a new manager, and she's making things really hard for us. She starts work at 4:30am and leaves around 2:30pm, but she still expects us to stay until 6pm and work on the weekends! She gives us really long shifts and doesn't give us much time for breaks. And when we ask her about it, she gets mad.

I'm worried that if I speak up, she'll make my life even harder. I don't want to lose my job because of this—do you guys have any advice?

I am the only immigrant with an accent in my office and it’s almost a daily thing now that my bosses/coworkers would explain terms to me that I already know. I’d often freeze when they do that because my first reaction is always confused. How do you talk about it with them after the fact especially when it seems like it’s not a big deal to them?

I’m my partners only associate and I went on parental leave two weeks ago. I feel horrible for leaving him to handle our cases alone, but am trying to focus on my wife and new baby. My old employer asked me if I wanted to come back to the company as a manager. The pay will likely be much better and the position holds more responsibility than I’ve had before, so overall it would be a step up. The issue is I left the company because of an abusive manager who constantly put me down and made me feel like I wasn’t doing anything right. If I come back I’d be working under her again. I’m torn because the opportunity is great but the stress was awful. Continued in comments…

How hard is everyone pushing their corporate clients to authorize nonresident assignees whose only 2020 US compensation was the value of their 2019 tax preparation?
My clients are pushing back on it this year, and I can't say I blame them. If I were in their shoes, I'd rather take the risk of not filing than the expense of filing again. From my own point of view, I don't really want to spend my time on such returns, either, even if the revenue and easy return are nice.
