I agree with EY1. Once is fine with a given RP, but make sure this is worth it. Also, if you're gonna pull that card, be prepared to leave if they don't match it, or risk looking like an idiot

SA1, how could you pull this off "always?" The firm only adjusts compensation once per year.
OP, try to do it before if you can. The ink is pretty dry by Career Outlook in June. Your team is finalizing numbers now. Also, there's not much, if anything, they can do if you are within a cohort.
Don't do it every year was the message. But, hey , it's your career. Go for it and good luck.
With the new Cohorts model there will be less flexibility (to none) for base but they may be able to influence bonus
