It’s end of the year review time (fiscal year restarts April 1) I’m hoping for a promotion so I did some actual work on my review. Do you spend a lot of time on your annual review or just slam it out?

I hate it when people try to bond with me over trauma when their trauma is that they fight a lot with their spouse or they didn’t get the promotion they wanted. How is that staring death in the face??

Been with company for 2.5 years in a SFA role, and they just let me hire an associate financial analyst reporting into me. Do companies sometimes offer "gifts of appreciation" if you're not selected for a merit increase? My manager randomly called me to let me know I was chosen for the "gift" this year bc of my "hard work & dedication", except now I'm learning other colleagues are receiving actual merits.
