Tata Consultancy I am a manager in Capgemini... have an offer frm TCS. the designation being offered is Assistant Consultant.. 9.8 years experience( 5 yrs with Cap) Even though I am getting a package of 25Lakhs.. it seems like a demotion in designation.. Cg has offered to match upto 23.5 lakhs.. Is it worth moving to TCS on this grade? My primary reason for moving out of Cg is i m bored of beauocracy and WLB at current project. Is it a good idea to still switch with the counter offer from Cg Capgemini Tata Consu

One of the rationales for forcing people back into the office is that it helps build comraderie so you're less likely to leave. I think there's something to that but not to the extent that narrative is actually pushed. Treat employees well and pay them well and you would actually get much of the same. Of course employers don't want to pay and treat employees well though.
With that said 1 day/week is fine. 2 days is tolerable. 3+ days is too much, which is what my company requires. I'm still hoping they'll roll this back to no more than 2 days.
Plus, I believe that for better or worse people who start their careers in HCOL cities like NY and SF are generally more competitive employees. The kind of exposure and experience I have is vastly different than experts I talk to in my LCOL
I think the ideal situation is one where you WFH the majority time, but you understand their is an expectation to come into the office once and a while when there is an actual business need or you visit clients. The meaningless threshold of 2 days in the office (or whatever) telegraphs a strange lack of trust for your employees after the last year and a kind of institutional narcissism. The reality is especially with inflation and the cost of fuel, the negative impact of forcing people to commute is a senselessly hurtful thing to do to your workforce.
PWC, spot on. I resonate with what you said regarding the two day meaningless threshold. Will I go into the office for a client meeting, a team meeting, or a 1x1 with my superior(s). 100%, and I’ll wear slacks with a button down. Do I want to be in the office two days a week to sit in a conference room alone on zoom calls? No.
This old way still persist…eventually it’ll go away.
Same about the 5 days working week, we’re soon getting to the finally 4 working days week!
Hang in there!
Hopefully w/ Apollo they do that good luck on the next round of survivor 🙏
I am literally going through the same thing! Remote two years , had Covid twice if I take this new job I would commute 45 mins to work 4 days in office and one day remote. I started thinking if the quality of life I live at home is good? Am I too comfortable? Aka more lazy and have not stepped outside to rejoin society. Yes I worked outside the home and traveled for work before so why cannot that not be again fit me? I’m not happy so why not start over and force myself to meet people again , just my own thoughts best of luck
