I think tone matters more than anything. If you show genuine gratitude and give proper notice, most people respect the decision. I also made sure to offer help with the transition so it didn’t feel like I was just disappearing.
Are you just moving to a different group within the same company? In healthy companies team changes are treated as a good thing.
I do understand your concern though. I once worked at a company where a popular and high-value engineer switched to a different product group. Her former group ostracized her and wouldn't let speak one-to- one with any of her old team. They forced her to communicated through email and IM`s...and those were all being forwarded to joint group account. It looked like discrimination to me. She left the company all together within a couple of years.
I don't think there is much you can do. It depends more on the culture of the company. The company I was referring to in the anecdote above had low-trust, hyper-competitive culture where work team competed AGAINST each other instead of collaborating; zero-sum. Make sure your favorite relationships are secure and move on.
Plenty of notice and context
Let them know that you’re moving on to help progress your career and that you’re excited, any good team would be supportive of someone progressing
