I assume a lot of worker satisfaction comes down to leadership quality. It's like the flip side of the saying about how people don't leave bad jobs, they leave bad managers. If someone works for a good manager that's part of their daily routine, and it can make all the difference in how their work goes.
Couldn’t agree more. Managers carry a lot of weight in the day to day for the employees working for them.
80-90%. They can be your biggest promoter, source of inspiration, guiding light and mentor. Or they can be hell on earth, a micro manager or your biggest obstacle.
You engage with them frequently and good ones make work not feel like work. A good manager is better than all the money, titles, clout, etc. they’re also one of the single biggest contributors to your mental health.
Leadership quality can’t be underestimated. But a lot of people try to fake it.
Leadership quality definitely shows!
A significant amount. Company policies don't impact an employee's day to day like their manager does. Good ones get the most out of their employees. Bad ones drive them to other companies.
Totally agree!
Take a look at the book It’s the Manager by Jim Clifton. And Jim Harter. It provides data that supports you observation. According to Gallup there is a 70% different in engagement between good leaders and bad leaders. As leaders we create a micro culture on our teams by the behaviors we accept and tolerate, that is stronger than the entire organization culture.
I will! Thanks!
