Looking to open a second credit card (first real one after student Discover). Considering Uber, CSR, and CSP but not sure what I can get approved for. Great credit but thin file. Any recommendations?

CSR if you’re fine with a $150 effective annual fee and want to use points for travel

Uber is you don’t like the annual fee of the CSR

Citi Double Cash if most of your spend isn’t travel/dining

Second the double cash card. Great go to outside of specific reward cards that can supplement it. This is a great foundational card.

CSR is probably the best foundational travel card if you want that.

The Uber card does look pretty solid (surprisingly) but I think it’s more of a supplemental card to one of the above

Definitely the CSR. Great card

Its first determining your spending habits. If you are heavy travel/dining then CSR/Uber may make more sense. Generally Barclays is a tougher approval then chase

Get chase freedom, chase freedom unlimited and use them to build credit until you get approved for the CSR. Then split your spendings across the cards to obtain maximum points. When you use them, remember to transfer them over to CDR as that has the best redemption rate.

CSR dominates

So, I had put money into savings (~$40k) a few weeks back. I know timing the market isn’t good and stuff, but would it make sense to put some of that into an ETF now? The $40k isn’t part of my emergency fund or anything. I just didn’t know where to park the money.

It means ICOs are no longer open to anyone. You have to be a certified investor with the SEC. This is why Filecoin is conducting their ICO with CoinList instead of on their own. CoinList ensures their ICO is only open to certified Wall Street investors and makes sure FileCoin's ICO is treated as a normal IPO.

Granted please correct me because IPO investing is something I don't know a ton about.

Seeking feedback on GAP insurance. I had a family member who purchased a car in June or July. They were in an accident last week and it sounds like the car will be declared a total loss. Never dealt with this before, so wanted to ask if anyone has ever had an instance where the insurance didn't cover the outstanding balance of the loan and the insured then owed money? Car was $35k, $7k down, finance $28k. Gap insurance is through lender, not auto insurer.

Can anyone let me know how easy it is to apply to a consulting firm in Dubai directly coming from London? I am currently working at a T2 strategy firm in London and my partner and I want to relocate in ~1.5 years. My firm does not have an office in Dubai whilst my partners firm does. Is it possible to apply straight (rather than moving laterally in London, waiting a few years then transferring?) interested in MBB views too. (I would have roughly 2.5 YOE by then)

I was offered a contractor role (~20 hours a week) at 90/hour. This is extremely attractive because it’ll double my income (and the tax deductions from 1099 are solid). With that being said, I also want to see what kind of conflicts I can see given that I’m at a B4 firm.

I get the whole “you can’t have a second job” thing and don’t care but I’m actually worried about causing major conflict of interest.
