You can't complain about Dems now when the Rs literally let a women die instead of confirming her
Their job is to represent their constituents. Busting the quorum rules was the best way to do that.
It's up to the constituents to replace/fire politicians.
But they should show up and voice concerns/differences. These same politicians say they will work with each other but can't even be in the same room as someone... such a shame.
K1, Agreed. Don't think anyone should do it. Especially if by boycotting you cant stop anything..
Invoke some tiny forgotten rule and carry them in "under protest"?
E1 Look up Cassandra Butts. Confirmation as ambassador to the Bahamas had been delayed over 2 years when she died unexpectedly from leukemia. Delay was done to inflict "special pain" on Obama, according to Butts.
Watch house of cards! :D
The funny thing is a lot of these politicians are chummy in private. They put on a show for the media.

O1, agreed they should represent their constituents and boycotting has been highly effective in garnering media attention.. however this short term solution impacts long term success. By boycotting you lose the platform of having everyone in a room and voicing your/constituents opinion. Additionally, you only make the other side not want to work with you even more so , thus hurting their constituents in the long run.. then again many politicians only have a short term outlook..
@D1 can you explain what happened? I'm curious
Lol. When has government been like any other business? In what business would you haute a CEO that has no experience in the industry? Have him fire anyone with experience and fill top positions with people that paid him to become CEO, lack experience and want to destroy the very departments they are heading?
I am on the fences on this! I do kind of agree that they should show up and voice their stand! Otherwise look what happened! Reps went about their business without any resistance!
D1, agreed that both have done this in the past. However, the difference is republications could do it and be successful as they held a majority whereas today democrats are trying to do it but cannot succeed as they do not have a majority. Just a waste of time and makes the division wider
The time wasting is the point. It keeps the Senate from considering Trump's legislative priorities.
Life long professional politician is the best job ever. Literally heard someone from Seattle city council claimed they would spend every penny of tax money they collected to defend their value and stand to build a sanctuary city
