Nope. I wouldn’t say this. It gives the MIL hope and she retains her audacity.
Punch her.

Damn, you belong in my family. On Thanksgiving, we’d get together with wooden swords and shields and us kids would fight each other. Sooo much fun
D1, I’m not even pregnant yet lmao.

Then let her dream lmao
If you can't respectfully handle a conflict with your in laws without consulting us degens in the confession bowl, then you might not be ready to parent a child.
Harsh, but not unfair.

Just tell her you’re making a short list of potential names and will name the baby once you meet it. Don’t tell anyone your names - even if you know what it will be. Just avoid the conversation entirely. Everyone has an opinion and none of them matter.

Should add this is what my wife and I did when we were expecting. I don’t think my MIL loves our daughters name but the window of opportunity for feedback is closed and it was never open.
If and when you are pregnant you do NOT disclose the name options before you sign the birth certificate.

Where does your partner stand on this? Make sure you are both on the same page and enforce boundaries. Mothers and Mother in Laws come from a place of love but need to be told their place.
You smile and nod and do your thing anyways.
Had the same problem. Talked to partner and ignored it and just told them. “But why didn’t you name him after xxx”? Because we didn’t want to. Done. If they make a fuzz, draw a line in the sand. They will try to intervene in EVERYTHiNG regarding your child if you don’t stop it here
“Actually we’re not sharing the name until they are born.” That’s that we did.
Get her a goldfish for her to name.
Or a sock puppet

You better set those boundaries early or it’s going to be trouble for as long as you’re married. She won’t change so you’re going to have to get her to respect you. She’ll still try to circumvent you by going to your spouse. So they will need to know where you stand so they don’t fall into the “Yes, Mom” routine unknowingly undermining you by giving her what she wants.
Naming your baby, lololol, I wish she would try… hmmp

I second this. There are in-laws who want to encroach on as many boundaries as they’re allowed to, simply because you’re marrying their son/daughter. Super important to shut down this bullshit now.

Your doomed. My MIL call it her wedding when we were married

😊

Shut that s down right fing now.
Don't tell her you're pregnant. Just show up one day with your beautiful, already named baby.
Not a good idea. My MIL did the Dim Mak on my wife when we surprised her 😭

If she can’t, can I? 🤣
Just laugh at her.

“Thanks for the suggestion. We will think about it.” And then don’t.

I don’t understand. Just tell her no. And tell your husband to keep him mom in line. Don’t like people walk all over you. It will only get worse if you don’t put your foot down.

Lmao. Just make sure she’s not there during delivery and thereafter when you’re filling out the birth certificate. MILs feel entitled to everything 🙄🙄
