Holiday bonuses? Just got notice of ours and it seems very skimpy... wondering if B4 or other companies give staff holiday bonuses?
Resigning fish - what if you had spent more vacation days than pro-rated? Do you have to give back salaries accordingly?
Taking some time off. Need some book recommendations. Some light interesting non-fiction. No self help or management books. Just interesting topics that won’t make me think about work.
Hello, My last day in Accenture was 16 July 2021. I got paid yesterday 1-15 July 2021. Do i have to wait until 6 Aug 2021 for the final one day pay as well my PTO pay? Let me know if anyone has idea. Thanks
When do you guys generally use your 3rd week of PTO? I usually do a summer trip and a ski trip, but am unsure of when to use the third.
For those companies / roles with unlimited pto, how does a payout work if you leave and /or are laid off? Receive nothing or some set amount?
What agencies have flexible time off??
Everyday I think about quitting & how much I hate my job. When do I say enough is enough and quit? I have a family to support & a ton of student loans so it not like I can be unemployed. Just recently switched careers so it's unlikely I'd be able to find something better soon. I feel so trapped. Sometimes I have thoughts that if I'm seriously hurt I can take time off suddenly & have a real break but I know that's not good. (More in comments.)
I finally got a job and am very excited..but wanted to understand: Is 20 day PTO and 10 day holiday good? I had grand ideas of getting unlimited pto and working remotely and feel I can’t do this with 20 days The pay is good-ish and I am trying to negotiate on that. Can I negotiate on holidays, or anything else?
made a mistake, left my job for another and it didn’t pan out. took the first offer that came my way to make ends meet but after a week i know i will hate this place bc of the expected time commitments (24/7 on call, 15 min response to every email) i need mental and career advice, i feel like im spiraling over my career future, i don’t know how i will ever be able to apply anywhere with a crazy resume now. id love to take time off but can’t afford
I'm a new hire and have no idea what to wear for the office holiday party. Any (serious) thoughts?
Can I take 3 personal days before the Thanksgiving break? Does it count as regular vacation and not affect my Effective Util?
Came across the concept of “cash envelope stuffing” on youtube. Seems like a pretty good concept to avoid overspending on each category of expenses. I am trying to get some ideas to incorporate this concept using multiple bank accounts/ cards. Where I allocate a set budgeted amount of money each month, to each bank account tagged for a specific category (groceries, vacation, emergency fund, etc). Is this something you have tried or have any ideas on how to go about it? Do you recommend this?
I can barely bring myself to care about my work even after 2 weeks PTO. Is all corporate work just a drag? That’s why it’s called “work?” 😔
Good morning roll call. 🎁 if you are on winter vacation. 📚 if you are still teaching this week.
My management brag about how little PTO they take - it makes me not look up to them but rather pity them & think I'm in the wrong firm. No one regrets the days they didn't work on their death bed.
Who’s responsible for the holiday inn spot where the girl in the red dress sits down and talks to the bartender and they speak in unison? I cannot fucking stand it
What do partnership folks at big tech actually do? Is it a lot of quantitative analysis or qualitative analysis? Or more so client management soft skills?
I am looking to gain certification or other credentialing in diversity and inclusion, not only because it would look good on my resume both for future job-search purposes and also to become better educated in this area, which is growing in importance. I looked at SHRM's "Inclusive Workplace Culture Specialty Credential" and got a bit of "sticker shock" at the cost - $1,655.00 for members. Does anyone have other suggestions on training/credentialing in this area?
Guess salary of this profile: MBA Senior Associate Total 5 years at KPMG No other work experience
I have been working in HR since 2004. I have a bachelor's degree but it is not in HR, it's in a medical/technical field. My entire career in HR has been on the job training and I have worked besides people with HR degrees doing the same things they do. What extra skills do you think your HR degree gives you that you wouldn't have without the degree?

Hey all! We have a candidate we're considering for a management position. One of our partners found a news story about him from a few years ago that's negative, though not necessarily awful. It was a small-town-gossipy local news story about his solo business, but all the comments on it from locals said he's a great guy and very professional. Anyways, this partner would like me to question the candidate about this news story. I'm curious how anyone else would approach this? Any suggestions?
DFolks.. where are you planning to spend $500. I am gifting "1 Day Spa and Massage" package from Ritz Carlton to my wife.
I feel like classroom management is harder for me than for others. I'm starting to think that it's because I am a male teaching in an elementary.
Can company ask for a COVID positive test results? HR is asking for "tracing" purposes. I don't really care to provide as I don't think they mean anything negative, but thought maybe I should be aware of what is allowed or not at least.
Is there an comparison between big 4 titles ?
Any advice for someone looking to transition into a full HR Generalist role from Recruiting. I’m currently a Campus Recruiter with about 5 years of HR experience (Coordinator- Higher Ed). I received my PHR certification in September 2020 and sitting for my SHRM-CP in two weeks. I’m having a hard time transitioning into a full Generalist position.
Would a SHRM certification be beneficial for a consultant in organization strategy? Anyone in a similar boat?
I was made redundant in September (less than 1YOE), and this week I learned that they hired someone to my position the month after - how should I feel about this? Is this normal?
Missed my connection by mere minutes after running through the airport and asking the gate agent to call ahead. My rebooked flight got delayed for 2 hours and I went from a 1st class upgrade to row 29
