My salary is $55,700 after being promoted from staff 1 to staff 2 in the central region. Does that seem low?

Hired in 2011 in MSP at 50k out of school and made about the same money as you staff 2 year. Pretty standard for lower cost of living cities - sure you’re making less than new hires in NYC but you’re also able to live a substantially nicer lifestyle when you’re not paying $2k+ for your share of rent with roommates.

I haven’t seen any real movement in starting tax or audit salaries in the 10 years or so I’ve been aware of them. If anything they’ve come down after they spiked a little for the roll out of SOX

New hire in central low cost area? :O

I was hired in 2007 our of school, making 45k in lower cost Midwest area.

EY 7: so you have 10% increase from staff 1 to staff 2 then?

You should be happy that you got a raise as staff one. Most of you probably have not even worked for a year before you got a raise. As long as your first raise is 5% or higher you are in good shape. Also, if you want to compare numbers do so in your market and group. For example staff in MnA group makes equivalent to tax manager1.

That's what I made as a central staff 2 in 2012

Can you all please clarify what lines of service you are talking about.

There's not a big difference between staff 1s and 2s across all service lines, but I am tax

Don't really see a significant bump til senior

Sounds better than me. Raise to staff to put me at 54,600

Medium COL

I started at 53 a year ago and yep, it’s crazy.

I started at 53 three years ago but you location makes huge impact

RA in Atlanta. Started at $52 now at $57 as an A2

RA Midwest, below average COL, same starting number for assurance and tax buddies

Started in low col in Midwest in 2009 at $48k. Most recent group started at $52k. The recession set starting salaries back a lot and growth has been slow.

No, this is in line with what you should be making as a staff2 in a low COL city.

Pwc6 what was your rating? That's high for A2. I've been through 2 rounds of raises and I'm still not even at 56.

@pwc4 tier 3, 10%

That's upsetting. I'm a 3 and got 7% each year

Started in 2012 in Midwest audit at $48, raises were $52, $55.5

hi all, currently have two offers:

1: EY - FDD, home city, very good $$ for FDD

2: PwC - post-merger integration, DDV team (essentially M&A Consulting) - bigger city, always been keen to move

Coming as a Senior in Audit, with recent FDD exposure (2 deals, obviously not much). I was looking for something more than just number crunching, wanting a mix of quant / quali / strategic work. M&A Advisory or a Corp Strategy role is where I'm looking to end up long term.

Thanks in advance!
