Hi Fishes, Can Anyone please tell, one of my friend joined Tech M in August, At the time of joining she was 3 months pregnant and now shes worrying about her manager. She wants to inform them about her pregnancy; is it right time to inform? Or she needs to wait for 6 more months for that to inform? Anyone please clearify.. You just find a schedule that works for you. I work all sorts of odd hours but am around for my family and friends pretty much whenever I want. If I stop working at 4pm to go home and see the family, I pick up work around 9. I can start at 5/6am to get ahead of things and make sure I’m free that evening for whatever. It’s really not difficult unless you’re pacing 2,200+
Yes, this is the way. I'll also say, though, if you're at a firm where checking out to attend your kiddo's soccer game is seen as unreliable, it may be time to lateral. Just joined a firm where the partnership is very young, and the culture shift is palpable. Everyone is expected to work hard, and there are definitely times we're all in the trenches together on calls with kids whining in the background. At the same time, saying "I'll be out of pocket for a bit doing X for my child" is universally accepted and supported (barring a true fire).

I couldn’t make it work and decided my wife and kids were more important than the partners at my firm (who were all miserable and whose lives I did not want) so I went in house. Best decision I ever made career wise.
Find a job with more reasonable hours requirement. I’m currently doing 1750/year fully remotely and I am able to be present for at least 4–5 hours with my kids each day.
