Someone please tell me how to even get started with the idea of owning more than one car, much less building one for performance, without dual income or a six-figure job.

Start with a C4 corvette in manual, hard top. $10-12k cost of entry, low ownership cost, it’s a hoot to drive. You can leave it parked outside. For similar price you could get a Miata, which is slower, but more fun. Requires a garage, really.

Dont get a cayman or any Porsche without 6 figure income, they cost twice as much as a Miata or vette, and cost 3x as much to maintain and insure.

I don’t want to be judgy but brz and gr86 are seriously uncool. If you want a strong handling car for autox events, yes get one. But for a cool sports car as a second car - they ain’t it.

Want to get a sense check. Typical English firm salaries in London are about 70% Cravath (unless you're at one of the US firms that benchmarks to Cravath scale offices). 2PQE is around 165k USD + 30k bonus assuming 1800 billables. So comparing at a firm where you roughly bill 1900-2000 a year, you lose out, but if you bill 2200+, that's comparable?

Thinking aloud here - if you can find that 2000-billing firm, no sense staying in that payscale unless you have a shot at equity?
