New to the points game and recently jumped in with Amex plat (have a lot of travel planned, so seems worth it, at least for a year). As I applied, Amex offered to add a gold card for no charge. Is this a bad idea? I’d like to earn points on groceries and restaurants, but we won’t likely use the Uber/restaurant credits, so doesn’t seem worth paying the AF. So this seems like the best of both worlds for points accrual, or should I think about it differently (missing out on the SUB, etc.)? Thanks!

Partner quit their job, and according to job contract, have to pay back "training costs" since they left before an agreed-upon amount of time. When it comes to taxes, how should I treat this amount? In the past, I've been able to use a W2C if I payback sign-on bonus, but since the "training" was not income, not sure what to do.

Will Amex restricting guess access for Centurion Lounge actually make any difference?

I can see short term changes but the way Amex has been aggressively marketing Platinum card, we just will have overcrowding of primary card holders 🤷🏻‍♂️

What's next, everyone has to spend min. 50k a year to get Centurion lounge access or pay per visit.

What is the tipping etiquette on the free platinum breakfast in a JW Marriott? The server just gets coffee / orange juice and you serve yourself. It is an overpriced buffet that I would never dine in.
