I have had several attempts and only recently found some balance. I would be happy to talk if this is something you struggle with.
Personally, I would not say work is the biggest contributor. At least I wouldn’t say that being an editor is more likely to cause depression than any other creative profession. However, if your self worth is tied to work, that can definitely lead to having extreme ups and downs.
The best advice I can give is to seek out help from both a therapist and psychiatrist. A facility that offers both is ideal. For me a combination of therapy and medication has led to lasting stability and happiness.
I’ve never heard this or experienced it among the people around me. Are you ok OP?
I haven’t attempted self-harm but I’ve definitely struggled with mental health my entire life. Getting a good therapist helped, but when I finally asked for a psychiatrist referral, got medicated, and stuck with it through a rocky initial getting-used-to-it period, zoloft changed my life. Good luck OP, if you’re struggling I hope you get the care you need.
