What do you wear WFH?
Hi guys ,
I am in a US project in Accenture. We have long calls in the night timings. My other teammate has backed out saying she won't attend any calls as she got some medical condition so she won't attend long calls which extend till 9:30.Other teammate is a junior. The managers are expecting me to join all the calls. No help I am getting. And they all being Tamil, I think some partiality is going on between them.Even our onsite lead is of no use.She expects me to attend long calls.
What should I do .pls suggest?

Hi fishes,
Why TCS is so rude and self proclaimed kinda. I declined TCS offer last year as they were giving very less CTC. Now I got interviewed again with TCS and cleared all the rounds but they are not reactivating my ibegin portal for document upload since I rejected them last year...in this way u think they will never ever reactivate my profile.
Tata Consultancy
What would you choose & why?

"I'd be happy to forward the meetings, just let me know their email and which meetings you want."
My team and I share our calendars. Our manager told us to click the private button when you don’t want others to see a certain event/appointment.
It is intrusive and controlling. I left a manager who did something similar but her rational was that she wanted to de-conflict meetings for me. I said I’ll be happy to de-conflict my meetings if she would just let me know what the priorities were. Whenever I asked for priorities she would never provide them to me. As I mentioned at the beginning, I no longer work for her. She was also the worst manager I’ve ever worked with.
As a manager myself and having been a manager for a while now, I find it poor to ask for this. As managers, we need to empower our teams and help them be more effective as well as efficient. I don’t need to micromanage you. I would have simply brought you into my office or did a quick call with you to explain what’s going on and requested you to include the new team member on XX meeting so he/she can get up to speed.
Interesting to see the different perspectives on here. As a non manager, I would prefer if the entire team shared their calendars. It makes it easier for me to see who's working on what and when they're traveling.
Knowing what other team members are working on and worked on in the past lets me get an idea of who to reach out to for subject matter expertise.
Knowing when they're traveling lets me know if they have time for inquiries or discussions.
Outlook has a "personal" button that you can press to hide all calendar items that you don't want to share.
Interesting, all our non-exec calendars are open. 🤷♂️ can’t think of it being other way
The only reason I see someone should have their calendar open is if they are an executive and their admin books, accepts, and declines meetings for the executive. I would be curious to hear a valid reason why someone would need open access to a calendar.

Nah, that’s not the way. If it’s firm wide policy to have open calendars, then that’s fine. But when it’s not, people may have personal things on there. Seems intrusive. Also the excuse insinuates he will go through your calendars to find what he needs to fwd. which means he is looking to snoop. Hard pass.
Why would people worry about this? If you have personal stuff just block it off.
I don’t have my teams do this but given remote work and the number of meetings people are in sometimes it’s easier to just scan your teams meeting list and say “don’t bother with this, this is a priority, attend this if you have time” versus constantly asking them to provide that info to you.
Why do you have them send that info to you? You can just as easily email blast your team and say here are the priorities for today, week, etc.
Thanks for sharing your perspectives. This is very helpful. 🙏
I’m from a country where privacy is highly valued and this would be unlawful. I will not share the calendar but make suggestions how to invite the new colleague to my meeetings (thanks EY1).
A1: are you me? 😂 I had a manager like that at my previous company (boutique consulting firm) and she was the reason I left.
I wanted to add that I’ve found it helpful for those that are newer and lower in the totem pole. My boss tells the team that if there is a meeting you see on her calendar or other’s calendar that you would be interested in learning about and being a fly on the wall, to ask if you can join. Of course they may say no. I’ve had the opportunity to because of this to be in calls where my boss works with people in Corptax to develop system changes. I’ve been able to see how they do the selling aspect of engagements. It’s been neat.
