Plan was to vaccinate 20m by years end. We will be lucky to hit 3m 😢

So it’s the perfect end to 2020 then! 😂
Some of you are ridiculous and so unrealistic. 12 months out from discovery (even longer from actual acknowledgement that this should be taken seriously globally), we have FOUR vaccines which are being administered globally, that is with regulatory hurdles being met. The pace at which scientist have moved on this is pretty historic. Quit being jaded, be safe and when it’s your time get you shots.
I get that it’s easy to be critical, especially when your opinion means nothing towards a solution, but progress towards a vaccine has been amazing. Let’s just be happy going into 2021 here is a path forward to normalcy (whatever you want that to be).
Worse. Private equity. 🙃
Breaking news - implementation timeline longer than expected
I moved to US from a Latin American country that doesn’t have ANY vaccine approved yet and has no timeline in the foreseen future as the president is against vaccination. My whole family is still there. Let’s look from the positive side? US is the country with more vaccines completed so far.
Never did I say it wasn’t serious or shouldn’t be treated as such. It’s just not the end of humanity that it is being treated like in some circles.
Since the vaccine was approved 3 weeks ago, more people have been infected (3MM) vs. vaccinated (2.6MM). 11MM doses have been shipped, and sit in the freezer, waiting to be administered. Definitely not warp speed.
At least the US president isn’t saying the vaccines will turn you into a crocodile. Trust me, it could be worse
Pq é tão difícil para eles reconhecerem essa vida de privilégios?

The vaccine will expire before it’s used up. They’re being too stringent on who gets it. Need to get it out to everyone who shows up on time.

M3: agree astra Zeneca has the more easily transported/stored vaccine. Sucks they couldn’t properly test it and their success rate was 62% (don’t quote me, but ballpark if 62%). Idt i would be comfortable getting something that is only 62% effective when an option for 95% is “available”
Meh. A few months ago, they said it was unlikely or that we’d be lucky to have a vaccine by the end of the year.
Well I heard that 60% of Ohio long-term care workers have refused the vaccine. I don’t think they build their model for that!
Here is a screenshot of the governor’s interview, since you can’t trust a senior manager or use google just by talking to your smartphone. Who’s the boomer? This isn’t Facebook. We are professionals.
The media laughed at the administration for saying vaccine by end of year. Now we complain about not getting 20m? Ungrateful snobs
3 million new infections in the US these past two weeks?
At the rate this virus is tearing through the population and the slow pace of vaccinations we will likely hit herd immunity via infection long before the vaccine is fully deployed.
This is true except that the WHO and for some reason many in public health are determined to define natural immunity out of herd immunity
Is anyone really surprised
It’s also not entirely the fault of the federal government. Obviously there is some fault there and general Perna already took responsibility for some screw ups, but states and cities are at fault as well. Many of them haven’t used more than 50% of the vaccines allocated to them by the federal government yet, which is obviously slowing down the cadence. Just look at vaccination numbers in PA or NY to get a sense of the difficulty of the undertaking. I’d presume once we have both AstraZeneca and J&J vaccines it’ll be much smoother and vaccinations to the public at large will be through pharmacies like Walgreens and CVS which should make access easier
We’ll figure this out and beat Covid-19. But it’s a rockier start than I was hoping for.
Jfc no we’d mess it up
