Question—what type of retirement benefits are common for Vault 50 firms to provide associates? I’m a new first year associate at a Vault 30 firm and I just realized that, although we have both traditional and Roth 401K offerings (which I contribute to), we do not have any firm match for associates. Associates are also not entitled to profit sharing contributions until they make partner. Is this common? Or am I getting screwed?

Today I got the job offer and they are offering me 54k. My current company is making me 50k with tons of benefits which is why I am asking for 60k.

I'm hearing from my husband's company if he takes pat leave, and leaves shortly after returning, he'd have to repay the wages paid while out on leave. Is this only for pat leave and the person who gives birth wouldn't have to pay back as it's technically disability pay? So I've been at my job for 5+ years as a data analyst/back office support team. I made my way up into making a little over $40k. I've been WFH the past 2 yrs and overtime more than half my team has now been pulled out to work for a diff department which resulted in me taking 90% of our daily tasks to handle. I was not yet in the job market last recession but I watched my mom get laid off and struggle to find employment during that time for the next 1.5 years. Hi All - I’m at a firm that has some infrequent in-house training but not enough to help me develop skills to eventually become a trial lawyer. I know cases rarely make it to trial anymore, but I’d like to develop my skills as much as possible to position myself well when they do. Does anyone have any mock trial programs they’ve participated in outside of their firms that they would recommend?

Any first years have experience with a firm trying to clawback bar fees, expenses, etc. following an early exit?

How do you get good at thinking on your feet? I find I always need time to think and analyse before being able to answer client queries (even those that are considered simple by others). I don't want to rush and get it wrong. I avoid phone calls for this reason which isn't great when you're in the service industry so it's starting to impact my career.

I am so tired of assistants/secretaries who can’t do nothing. I might as well do everything myself. I don’t know why they even get paid. Couldn’t even put in a TOA/TOC. Ridiculous. *I am very nice and respectful to my secretary* It is just frustrating.
