Ok be honest, candidates. I really love this set of questions, I’ve been considering shifting my current interview style to these questions - I think they really give you an idea of who this person would be within the work setting. But the questions almost feel too deep for a recruiter to ask. What would you think if a recruiter took a different path and asked these questions instead of the usual ones?

No sweat. If the referred candidate meets the posted job requirements…the interview rounds still happen, right? and through that standard process w/the team meeting/interviewing the person, you can trust they’d know if it’s right. I’d think majority of referrals do NOT go direct to job offer/bypass interviews. And even referrals that were based on working together through career ≠ immediate hire w/o interviews or meetings w/the team leads. They assess & make their own decisions.
Referrals help open a door. Doesn’t universally mean it’s a vouch like the referer’s life must depend on that, especially these days w/many job searching before running out of savings.
I don’t trust them blindly. If I find out a referred candidate doesn’t actually know the referrer, I treat it as a red flag and dig deeper in the interview to assess fit and honesty. Transparency matters a lot to me, so I’d remind both parties about referral integrity before moving forward.
