Saw this post from a friend of a friend that works at a media agency. Now agencies need to spend money on outside training to try and get their managers to convince their team members to come into the office!? What a waste of money. If you want to go to the office, do so. If you can get your work done from home, your commute takes extremely long to get in, or you have a situation that makes it harder to go in but you get your work done and on time, wfh. It’s not rocket science…..

I mean, proximity bias is a real thing, and having training on how to mitigate it would be good for the folks who are hybrid or work at home.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m mostly remote and have been advocating as such for my team. But in an industry that tends to not train its managers at all, guidance on building an inclusive environment that support hybrid working, as this email seems to be implying with bullet 2 and 4 (“regardless of your teams work location”) seems like a good thing.

While most teachers are protected by teacher unions, I feel my voice hasn’t been heard at all with my concerns of going back to school next week. Our diocese has decided on full return 5 days/ week for all 42 schools despite a recent increase in COVID in our communities. Every other school that I know of in my state is either choosing remote learning to start the year or a hybrid approach, yet that was not an option for us. Are other Catholic schools I. The same boat? Stay safe!

Pregnant IBanking Director who will be a single mom needs advice on negotiating maternity leave - I have been with a boutique Ibank for 10 hrs and wish to ask for paid maternity leave and flexible WFH for another 3 months. Can you share any precedents form the industry? Our company policy is terrible (12 wk unpaid) and I wish to use my leverage to advocate for changing the policy for all future parents, not just for myself. Many thanks in advance.

Hoping for some advice here!!

I’m a senior sales person that just left my first job (where I was ranked top 10% in sales, worked for 5 years, qualified for presidents club 3 times & was very well known & respected) for a new company that will definitely be better, but I am starting over. Also, working from home for the first time (last job deemed “essential”).

What are some things you all have done to stay motivated during the climb of starting over? Also when learning to work from home?
