Have you ever seen a client fired in mid-production?

I was recently laid off and I am actively search for a new role. I am mainly targeting Business Analyst, ScrumMaster, Product Analyst, roles but I am open to others.

Must be located in Austin, Texas or fully remote.

Should I negotiate a severance package even though it’s not in my contract and it’s not required by UK law?

Is it just me or do 90% of the jobs being laid off by big tech sound made up? Many job descriptions with multiple bullet points that all kinda revolve around the same idea. One of my buddies works for a big IT company and literally just sits on meetings all day. No one really contributing to anything other than agreeing to whatever the speaker is saying. Are these kind of jobs finally being exposed? Six figure employees getting paid to sit and bounce ideas off each other?

Who is still in denial about a housing correction? The Fed just made another .75% increase. Powell said they won’t stop until inflation is 2%. He also said a recession would be better than the consequences of unchecked inflation. He announced he will bring rates to a “restrictive level” until “the job is done”. He said that labor demand needs to soften (ie: layoffs). He very explicitly said he wants to slash demand and that housing needs a “correction”.

It’s hard to be motivated when rounds of layoffs happen and you see all your friends leave. But one thing that’s gotten me through all of this is working out. And when I say workout I mean the most pathetic, sad, barely completed beginner-level cardio dance routines. I’ve somehow forced myself to move while on lockdown and it’s somehow forced me to feel better. It’s so nice that every agency laying off people, have those left standing (and other agencies) trying to hustle jobs for their unemployed friends, but there are also a ton of people who were unemployed prior to Covid...so no severance, job hunting lot longer, and not earning income for longer time...hurting even MORE due to quarantine.

I was informed today that my employment would be terminated at a tier-2 consulting firm in Toronto.
