I was wondering that too, I assume so because they did that with a few SVPs. They never say and then everyone finds out within a few weeks of the incident. It’s not very transparent and shows that leadership does not care about anyone.
The only time I’ve seen this go down is when someone was fired at the conclusion of a rather sensitive HR investigation.
Sounds like you haven’t seen many layoffs or downsizing then. Happens all the time for lots of reasons other than “sensitive HR investigations.” Might just be that the President did not see eye to eye with the CEO and it was no longer a good fit for both parties.

At one agency where I worked for a time, this is exactly how management handled firings and layoffs: People would just disappear. You’d look at their cubicle or workstation and there was no trace of the former employee. No computer, no phone, not a single anything left on their cork board.
I mean… are they gone gone? Or just on vacation? 😂
