Started b school today. Long awaited work vacation, chance to meet others, explore new topics, and have an incredible experience has morphed into a poorly planned unpredictable zoom mess. Can’t help but feel disappointed :( I have been trying to staying neutral and somewhat positive but today’s first day experience has me anxious that this opportunity will be somewhat squandered bc of Covid. I need advice about Zoom. Is it easier to have a zoom link with your personal Id or a simple generated one? I want to connect my Zoom link in my clever portal, but for some reason the generated one doesn’t work, but I’m afraid if I switch anything it will mess up the flow. Any experts do we have advice?

Advice and/or consolation anyone? My wife and I (both above average health 30year olds) were trying for 11 months before getting pregnant and then had a week 5 early miscarriage a few months back. If the stress and surprise of just how difficult it apparently is to get pregnant wasn’t enough, the miscarriage put us over. We got back to it and have been trying for the last 2 months again, still no luck. We’re freaking out… all we want is a family. Any similar stories? Advice? 😢

I’ve made it 5+ years in a NY M&A practice and have consistent exceeding expectations reviews. I’ve had a few mental breakdowns because of work during this time, but thankfully made it through. Every time I speak to my director (at least twice a week), he works in how he is getting older into the conversation(humorously). For instance, he forgot something non-work related, said “sign of old age”. He recently told a story, said, this is how old people talk. He likes to come across as a grandfatherly figure, but I’m not sure what to say in these encounters. It is always an innocent, non work related context. Have you guys experienced this ? So supposed to head out of town for a long weekend with friends starting the evening of 4/21. My one friend and her son tested positive for Covid on 4/13 and have been sick. She says she is coming on our trip. On the following Thurs 4/28 I need to spend time with my 92 year old diabetic father. Do I go on this trip? I used to work from home. I got a new job that requires me to go into the office. I love the job and the people I work with. There’s great energy and opportunities. But, the drive to the new job takes over an hour, and traffic is nuts. What are some tricks or tips to keep your sanity when driving to work? I hate traffic and it feels like such a waste of time. I listen to lots of podcasts, but I’m starting to get very bored of them. What do you all do?

Spent the pandemic working on myself, got sober, focused on working out, left the music industry and started a career where I can make money and have a steady work schedule. Maybe this isn’t everyone’s version of “growing up” but that’s what this was for me. Now that I’m vaxed and seeing my friends, it’s clear we have little left in common, and honestly a lot of the things they do straight up embarrasses me. I don’t want to lose these long term friends.
