Netflix. I see a remote opportunity at the company. Does anyone have experience of Netflix work culture, or remote working with them? For all the downturn in growth, they have only laid off approx 4% of staff since April (latest cut were 30 people on animation team in Sept).
Is it common practice in Singapore for firms to have a probation period for new joiners (duration at their discretion), during which new joiners can be fired at a week’s notice period?
What's your A/R per month or per quarter? Please list area of law and years of practice. So many posts about billable hours but at the end of the day, isn't it all about the dollar dollar bills y'all?
Internal Thoughts: Being a lawyer is already stressful enough, but these BILLABLE HOURS can kiss my entire ass! Aside from going in-house can anyone recommend some other career paths in the legal field that don’t require billables? Thanks in advance 🥲
I particularly don't want to work in this last week of the year because I want the billable hours to count towards 2022.
How often are you full time on a semi traveling project, and your pml pulls you into his side projects without any billable hours 😑 so dang unethical! side stuff is in addition to your 100% project
Hi there, starting new in private practice. My job requires billable hours. Anyone know where I can find a list of terms and descriptions I can use when I am billing clients? TIA
No matter how much good feedback I get and how well received my work is by clients, I constantly assume I’m about to be called in to the CEO’s office and fired.
Why is that?
He fired Vindman’s twin brother too. What a petty, small man this President* has turned out to be. Thank you GOP for showing your true colors in electing this dotard into office.
Cap billable hours.
15+ years experience in Forensic Accounting. What would be considered fair pay in the NYC area? Average yearly Billings was 2,500, however recently took over the building out of systems, training younger staff, more marketing in a set region; basically more non billable work.
I have got confirmation of clearing the technical and managerial round with Amdocs, I have HR round tomorrow. So wanted to get some guidance on if I join as Team lead position, is it Good to join looking at it from layoff perspective.
I have been in my current company for more than 7+ years, so guide me if it is safe to join over companies like Cognizant, Wipro and TCS which I have already got offer ?
If you know your performance is being monitored after being reprimanded earlier in the month and the HR randomly sets up a meeting with you at the end of the month regarding a review of your performance, is that generally a good thing or a bad thing?
I feel like I'm about to be fired and I'm really anxious about it. At the same time, I've kind of lost care because I've been battling depression and anxiety for a while and I've recently realized I've lost interest in the legal field altogether.
Any tips on how to keep my plate full with work? I just moved from civil legal services to Biglaw as a staff attorney (9 YOE), and I’m looking for strategies on how to get work from partners. They know I’m new and I have gotten some matters to work on, but I find myself out of billable work by the afternoon (and today, by 10am). I check in with different people each day to ask if there are things I can work on, but what else can I be doing (that isn’t going to annoy the shit out of ppl)? TIA!
What is an appropriate way to ask about layoffs while interviewing? I’m about to interview at a company that laid off a fair amount of people a month ago, but seemingly not in the group I’m interviewing for. Want to make sure I don’t get there then get laid off. Better to wait for offer to bring this up?
EPAM Systems EPAM Anywhere
Another layoff at epam today. She was on pool and joined the company two months back. EPAM layoffs only who are on pool ☹️☹️
Jack Welch is a complicated figure to me. He's definitely a pioneer in the industry, but he definitely created the layoff culture we have today
Is KPMG calling it's employees back to office? Do KPMG Global services provide permanent work home?
Hi!! Need your suggestions.
I have 4.5YOE in Azure & DevOps. CCTC is 17LPA. I recently gave an interview with EPAM anywhere and they were willing to offer 20LPA for A2 role (Systems Engineer)
I feel that for my experience A3 (Senior Systems Engineer) would be ideal & package can be negotiated better?
Will Epam renegotiate CTC after a few weeks if i come up with a counter offer before DOJ? Kindly help.
Folks got an invite to Bain SOVA test (any guidance or recommendations). It is due tomorrow. When i login into the portal i see 3 headings:

Which gets me to think it is only a personality test similar to BCG.
Just posting to thank whoever recommended the Ann Taylor rental service. Just got my first box and am super pleased!

Biden Machine - Not gonna stop undermining the economy. The $1.9T bullet is just the beginning. Look at how the street is responding to the inflationary concerns. Really need to take senate and house in ‘22 to put things in check.
Really need advise and opinion from folks who have done rental property investments:
Have $100k cash saved over 3yrs. Should we split into multiple investments or add some more cash and buy a cash property?

How to stay motivated or disciplined when you know you want to leave litigation? I plan to go in house in 1-1.5 years. Can't leave yet because I started a new job recently and need this experience. I just have 0 discipline and get so distracted while I work.
I am new to US job market - and I have been working in B2B sales for almost 2 decades for an international ICT/Télécommunications provider in Europe.
I know that I cannot expect to start here in the US where I left my precious job as Sales Manager and I am fine with that.
But what can I demand in terms of salary (base/commission/boni) in the DC area? I am currently in the middle of an interview process and the company offered 60k base salary.
Any advise is much appreciated!

The “get and transform” feature I am going to have to play around with. Seems like it could make partner allocations so much easier for example most of today I spent taking data from one workbook to another

I recently (August 2021) took a job in-house in Houston after leaving a firm. My partner lives in LA but freelances so the decision was to take a good in-house job and then he would move to Houston and work remote. However, he’s started to get great directing and editing gigs in LA and now it seems impractical for him to move to Houston or even split time. I love my company but their HQ is in houston and they won’t allow remote work. Continued in comments…
Sidley Austin London office - opinions? Prestigious? How does it compare to magic circle firms?
I am interested in moving to another state and realized that this state has one of the most restrictive reciprocity rules in the country. I've passed multiple bar exams. However, I won't get any credit for time I worked in CA because CA isn't reciprocal. I swore I'd never take another bar after taking CA - and now I have to take another exam if we move. I worked in big law in CA for two years and get no credit! Yet the exam has been waived for new grads for COVID. It sure limits our move.
Received a 15% increase from current firm, considering lateraling for 60%+ increase. But at my current firm, I love my partners, work is okay, WLB is good. Any advice? Any support/encouragement to still lateral?
Best small carry on? They keep shrinking the acceptable luggage size and half of the models out there don't qualify
I commute 1.5 hours to work and 1.5 hours back. Up at 6, home ~8. Don’t even like the field and billable hours..more of a small transactional firm person. Took a job out of desperation. What do I do?
I graduated law school at 29, started working at 29-30. I’m now 31 with 90-100K in savings… I feel behind because all my colleagues seem to have hundreds of thousands saved. I know it’s stupid to compare but I live very frugally because I just feel behind. Is this common? (I’m not considering the student debt I have.)
Ugh. Today I had a tough day at the office (it’s closed but you can go if you want to, very few people are there). A partner destroyed me for being “greedy” - I asked about our practice group’s finances/case intake in the past few months). As I was leaving the office, I saw him leave the garage in a brand new Porsche 911 (I know it’s brand new because he did not have this car before).
Any attorneys here practicing or have experience in Delaware? Considering moving there for an opportunity with a small Delaware firm in their litigation department. They seem very white shoe, not very diverse, and do not seem to have many women. Is it a mistake to move to Delaware and to a small localized firm? A lot of judges seem to come from the firm.
Any experience with Delaware lawyers or firms? Anything to watch out for or red flags?
Say it with me now associates, “I’m” (“I’m”) “at” (“at”) “capacity” (“capacity”). Great now put it all together: “will do!”
Thinking about my current options: Would you rather be a “service partner” at a big firm, or a partner with your own book at a small firm? Why?
How do you track your time spent reading and responding to emails? I don’t want to run a timer each time I open outlook, but I feel like I’m losing hours of billable time every day to one-off emails that I would never individually bill for.
Any recommendations for a recruiter in SoCal? If it helps I’m not interested in traditional big law, but open to pretty much everything else.

How are bonuses typically structured in all of your various firms? We are a small firm, relatively lucrative, hourly billing, few, if any, contingency cases. I am an associate as well as the office manager. I am expected to keep up with both jobs. When we discuss bonuses, the baseline is always billables only. I am essentially being docked for the admin tasks I must do - such as all HR, oversee clerks, interact with landlord, manage physical space, i.e. supplies, tech, materials. Advice?
How do you properly vet a law firm? I feel the associates I speak with talk up the firm and aren’t always candid.

Upping the frequency of my emails to the various partners I work with indicating availability, planning on calling as well. For matters I’m currently on, figuring out ways to take more initiative (e.g. sending an issues list before being asked). I’ve also been reaching out people who aren’t in my direct practice area but whose practices overlap with mine, or for whom I’ve done one-off small assignments for in the past.
