I don't even understand, what does it mean that he/she copies what you say?
So if you tell the client "we think there is an issue in your pricing ladder".....your colleague will also say the same to the client, at the same time....maybe I ain't getting it...

Maybe, while giving updates, he copies his style?
I've seen folks in my team. One dev used to say 'umm' a lot & now 3-4 people, including my BA got habit to say 'umm' now.

Start doing weird stuff when ONLY you are with him. Let him do those stuff in client calls or meetings & you behave professionally.
I had a similar thought years ago when I was fairly new to IT and honestly, initially it felt a bit odd that another team member who was then junior to me, an average performer at that time, all of a sudden started do things just as I was doing! I remember it was hard to logically make sense out of it, knowing fully well that it's so trivial and I don't have a patent on my work style and I would have also subconsciously integrated elements of someone else's work style. Anyway, eventually what I realized was this team member was trying to level up, get their act together and gain trust from Stakeholders by doing what I would do/had done. Months later, we heard great feedback about this person from the Client which was followed by a promotion. At that point, I was pleasantly surprised and decided to shift my perspective on this whole thing.
I chose to believe that in hindsight perhaps I have inspired this person, and if anything, I should take it in my stride and feel good about "being copied". Hope this helps you.
Cheers.

And I totally believe that this is not a fabricated story :)
Either way reminds me of Joey saying "I need a new walk" :)
