Honestly I asked my current partner about how busy he was and how he felt about it.
Caught on from his response and what ECDs had to say about him that he was a very hard worker, which was important to me. I've had some flaky partners in the past.
Figure out what is most important to YOU. Do you want to know if you guys have similar taste? Do you just wanna chat and see if the vibes are right?
Asking about their process is always good, too.
Great advice, thank you!
Ask about WFH communication styles. Do they like talking on Zoom for hours to brainstorm and try to have casual workplace banter? Do they love chatting and sending memes on Slack throughout the day? Are they a fan of hopping on a quick call at the beginning or end of the day to talk about what needs to get done, and how the other person is feeling?

Ask about their hunger level.
Some creatives aren’t hungry at all and just Mail it in. I’d like to see those creatives partnered with other lazy half-assers.
The ones that are hungry, need a hungry partner. This makes the work better, it pushes each of them to be brilliant. And it’s just better for everyone. Each member of the team pulling their own weight, and taking client-diluted ideas and still executing them as best they can.
I hope your hungers match.

Obviously there’s sarcasm in the question. But definitely ask questions to gauge someone’s ego and collaboration skills.
