getting a proper diagnosis and treatment has changed my life and i regret not seeking it out sooner. that being said i dont think i can see myself in an environment where the work changes often. one thing i’ve learned is that i seek stability and comfort in everything and anything. it’s been a difficult journey and we doubt ourselves for so long until someone finally listens

Can you share if you have started any meditation as part of the diagnosis and treatment?

Consulting, entrepreneurship, anything complex that lets us explore new things all the time and has structure/routine but not too much

Been thinking about this. I really struggle to pick up a new skillset simply cause I can’t stay still on focus.

Consulting was a good fit to do fun work and learning but the environment is terrible. If you also have low self-esteem... Many people do... The consulting model could burn you out. So learn to manage boundaries, learn to be ready if you get laid off. Learn not to give so much crap about rewards and recognition. Learn the politics and play the infinite game. Make your own rules... Ignore constant negative feedback and focus on the positive feedback. Should be a fun career.

I don’t know if this is true for others. But I find fast paced environments that keep my mind busy to be the best fit for me. However, I know this can stress some people out.

Consulting is good. But drugs are key.
Once you get diagnosed and go on Adderall, Vyvanse, Dexedrine, etc... your life becomes infinitely more enjoyable.

Well I’ve been working for a while now and it’s been so great, though I’m rich but i make enough to live comfortably. The pay rate is very great working hours are flexible, i guess company want more employees

Hi! I’m a young professional with less than 2 years experience, started a new job 1.5 months ago. I’m having quite some difficulties on balancing out my response time to tasks. While I act incredibly fast if not immediately with some, I sometimes take 1-2 weeks with couple of hours worthy ones. Sometimes I ignore, procrastinate or simply other more urgent things come up to increase the delay. Also I work with 3 managers in my team which doesn’t help with expectations nor guidance. Any tips pls?

Hey so like - newfound reason for my procrastination since I got on Ritalin - a tendency towards "putting things off so I can enjoy the hyperfocus later". Anyone a manager? I’m recently diagnosed (26F) and I can’t help but beat myself up everytime I fall short of my to do list. Makes me feel like a huge disservice to my team. I’ve been trying vitamin D and working out, but it makes my “highs” and “low” SO extreme. The simplest things are so complex in my mind.

If anyone feels similar, how do you manage these feelings? I’m personally considering switching to an individual contributor role, but can’t help but feel like a disappointment if I do.

What types of work accommodations can help people with ADHD? I am starting to believe 35+ of having not managed my ADHD has really negatively impacted me in career growth etc. I'm realizing a lot of things about myself are because of the ADHD. I want better for myself and family but 1. I don't enjoy the same things forever 2. Imposter syndrome and RSD make me believe it's acceptable to start over in new places at low salaries. 3. Typical college won't work for me. 4. I also can't relocate.
