I’m in my mid-40s, and my net worth has fluctuated quite a bit over the years. I’ve made a lot of money through successful ventures and career moves, but I’ve also burned a significant amount along the way due to some high-risk investments and business ventures that didn’t pan out. The lessons learned have been invaluable, though, and have shaped how I approach financial decisions now. I’m now more focused on building a more balanced portfolio and using my experience to make smarter moves going forward. The journey has been a mix of success and setbacks, but I’ve definitely learned a lot too.
I'll turn 40 this year. I have both a personal and a work retirement account. My goal is to save the max in my work account this year. I took 6 years off to be a stay-at-home parent and while it was rewarding, I'm playing catch-up with my contributions for now with a goal of being able to retire early.
Family priorities have led to my wife becoming a stay at home mom, so it’s shifting around money and expenses to hit 401k and IRA contribution limits on a single income.
25 and I have about $90k in savings between retirement accounts, investments, and HYS account. Also have $18k in student loans and about $14k on a car loan.
Sounds exactly like me😂
I am 33 and was encouraged to max out my 401K when I started working full time as an engineer. That was a little over 10 years ago. My company matches something like 3% and a few years ago I also started contributing a small percentage after tax. The power of compound interest and diversification is truly something to behold, because I now have north of $400K. I have a separate Roth IRA that I contribute to as well, just not nearly as much.
My personal checking and savings accounts are in pretty good shape too. I have a little over half my base salary saved as it stands.

I'm 26 and have about $115k in between 401k and HYS
