Not sure about reposting stuff. I usually keep interviewing tell offer letter is signed and in this market till start. There are lots of variables with role so best to keep going
In some situations, it doesn't mean that the company doesn't like your skills. Obviously, this is the employer's market now, and maybe they want to compare your application with other strong candidates given they you were the only strong candidate from their first batch.
It's bad form...no matter what anyone else says. What, they want to see if anyone "better" will apply. NO.....this should not happen. I would respectfully say thank you, but this tells me everything I need to know.
