One thing we've been getting a lot of feedback about is recruiter "ghosting". While we try to avoid having anyone feel like they're not being communicated with, sometimes emails end up in spam folders, and sometimes things just take longer than expected. Has anyone found a good way to help mitigate this issue?

Brutal honesty with the hiring manager and candidate and clear expectations. During your kickoff with the HM, define the process and establish timing.

Communicate the timing to the candidates at each step (allow a buffer).

If your ATS, HCM, or HRIS has triggers and automation, use them to help.

Truth be told, you can do everything right and still miss. Trying new things and explaining why timing is essential helps.

It may seem like a waste, but using some of your time and resources to focus on Candidate Experience. A 30 second phone call the day of each interview (or text, if the candidate is comfortable with that) can go a long way. We’ve had at least 2 employees who recently came on say that they chose us partially because of the candidate experience during the interview process

I have 5 YOE in Analytics... always thought I wanted to be a DS, but every job (even the junior ones) required experience in ML development. Though I am part of the ML project, I'm not the person develop the model. And I have a hard time when the interviewer ask about how I develop the model and what hyperparameters I tuned. I know the thought process and stuff but 'I' wasn't the one who did that part in the project. How to convince them that I could do the job without taking credit of others.

I recently interviewed with Natwest and I got confirmation that they wanted to offer a role. Salary negotiations were started. However, now I got an email from the hiring manager that hiring for my role has been paused due to the ongoing cost of living crisis. He expects to resume the hiring for the role in Q1 '23 and would resume the process then. So is it the end? Honestly, I don't expect him to come back. But what do you think?

Hello recruiters, happy Monday!

I want to know why recruiters ask me in an interview if I am looking at other opportunities, or if I am interviewing at other companies. If I say yes they will ask at what stage I am.

I just want to know the reason behind it and if there is a right answer to this question!

How would you approach an interview process where the company sounds exciting but you feel confident the role would not be a growth opportunity for your skill set? Is there a good way to respectfully approach that topic with the interview team and find a role that might be more exciting for you? Or is it better to walk away?

What’s the best way to turn down a 2nd interview? During the 1st interview, I learned that the compensation for the role is not within the range that I am looking for and requires 400 more billable hours a year than what I bill now. I’d basically be laterally for my current salary just to bill 400 more hours. I also wasn’t aware that the local office was strictly ID. Firm website advertises lots of practice areas. Any advice? TIA!

Currently a paralegal at a small start up financial services company been there for just a little over a year. I wear “multiple hats” but more recently I’ve done a lot of PM work and some BA work. My position title is changing soon but I’m wondering how helpful that would be for wanting to go into PM work at a tech company. Anyone have any career pivot advice? (Also I’m only 1.5yrs old in my career so I’m definitely still new, and I have previous experience as a project assistant).
