I have a chronic cancer. It can be managed but not cured. My medicine costs $20k month, less than I make in a year. If ACA goes away and my oncologist's social worker can't find a charity to cover my medicine, I'll die. We can only hope that Democrats somehow end up with a majority in the House to prevent this scenario for many Americans.
Lol OP, I like the way you think but the GOP is the bootstraps party and they have all branches of the government now.
I voted for Harris but I almost guarantee ACA will be killed next year and the replacement is just having your employer plan or getting a plan underwritten by a insurer.
Our best hope is the GOP lets the states run their own health programs and likely blue states would have health access and protections.
As for people who voted for Trump, people were unhappy how their personal lives were with inflation and cost of living and the Biden/Harris administration were not helping according to them, any of Trump’s polices were secondary.
You would not be covered for anything preexisting the plan.
One of the reasons I joined the military was after watching people around me go bankrupt from health issues that weren’t covered.
Then ACA hit and people were covered.
Also pregnancies were not covered many times in regular plans and if you were already pregnant and wanted to try to get coverage you were locked out due to the preexisting condition.
Those are my feelings as well re: the preexisting.
I think it’s very easy to say that in theory- don’t insure things that are already happening before the plan, but when that’s put into practice your talking about a large portion of the population basically being told “hey sorry, sucks to suck” effectively.
