What was your initial salary? And in what position? I want to know if there is hope for me, starting with $45k as an analyst.

Not the end of the world. This is only the beginning of your career, this early on I'd argue better to get good experience on your resume than to make 15k more. In the span of a career that will last 40+ years, the first few will hardly matter. You're doing fine OP

You have hope! You control your destiny. I started as a finance major and went into technical recruiting. (Didn’t have much guidance and believed the company I could make a ton in sales). 34k base. I got an analyst job at mortgage firm 18 months later for 70k. Learned a BI platform with regards to development and SQL and now do tech consulting making 90k 8 months later. No path is linear but if you want it, you can do it!!

Yeah that seems low for sure. Starting for me was $60k in 2013...

It’s low... but focus on quality work, you’ll get reset at your first promo.

I interviewed for what I assume is the exact same role in the exact same office as you. I audibly laughed when the interviewer told me 45k. I honestly didn’t mean to, it just kinda came out before i even realized I did it. They asked me to leave and I wanted to die as I was walking out

I’m a 2016 grad making $120k in a small to mid-size regional firm. I’m based in Nashville. My firm’s management is trying to survey other small to mid-size regional firms to get a feel for where the comp is now, especially in light of the big law increases that are making headlines, and to see just how far below market we may have fallen. Any additional data points from smaller regional firms (especially if you have a presence in Nashville or across the SE) would be appreciated! TIA

Advice & resources? My spouse and I are starting to make good money (ages 28 & 31, $105k & $70k) with $10k in savings (we were hit hard financially this year) and 2 car payments.

We live in a cheap apartment ($1.3k) that is sh*tty. Don’t quite have a down payment (especially not in ATX). Is it dumb to rent a house for a year at $3k/month while we save up again?

We both didn’t come from $ and are figuring out how to not be idiots 🙃 tbh we would prefer to rent forever but that feels dumb???

From my understanding 10% PS is better because it’s just a standard 10% on top of whatever I contribute though it takes 5 years to vest. Does this mean if I leave before 5 years I don’t get any of it?
