Any word on layoffs at JPM?
Some BS I noticed that I’d like to call out…
As we’ve all seen there have been layoffs happening left and right. However, there’s a right way to handle the situation.
Lyft isn’t one of them. I was with the company earlier this year on a contract to hire role that was ended suddenly. Then, yesterday I saw on LinkedIn that most of the team was laid off (including team lead) YET I’ve had a recruiter reach out to me to apply to my same old position with the team but…

Depends on the work you do. Cost cutting programs are an easy sell in recessions
The 10 year treasury bond interest rate is now higher than the 2 year treasury interest bond rate suggesting that investors feel that 2 year treasury bonds are riskier. If this holds for a few months, a recession will likely hit between May 2020 and December 2020 so I am naturally curious about job security
Sorry about that!
Somewhat depends on the area - some are impacted more so than others.
Also generally this starts with letting low performers go, especially at senior levels as they’re much more expensive, then folks that are not likely to move up and/or have been at the same level longer than their peers.
Larger firms it definitely happens more often especially if you’re on the bench and have no prospects of immediate staffing. They have a lot of bodies to work with. Smaller “firms” need higher caliber consultants to get by. Those are not easy to find so layoffs are not as common. Low performers definitely start to get weeded out though.
