You’re not wrong, however not correct either
I don’t believe in MBB or bust, however, we cannot disregard that, on average, MBB have better talents and better exits
But again, not all MBB folks are better than all T2. Hell, I consider myself average at T2 if I were to switch. Not a super star nor want to be one

100% agree McK2
I agree 100% MBB is better. But people often act like you’ll fail in life if you’re not at MBB. My point is - if you don’t land, keep up ur head because success is mostly dependent on the individual & what u make it out to be.
For me there's a lot of Happiness Treadmill effect.
I got into a boutique consulting and was really happy, but all my friends were at MBBs and grass looked greener.
Just joined Bain and I'm really impressed by a lot of stuff, but already afraid that sooner or later grass will be greener somewhere else.
I disagree. MBB represents a completely different caliber (especially when you factor in that half the people who list big 4 are found audit work). If you tell me that you came from McKinsey or BCG, I have a completely different perspective than if you say you came from Deloitte
Deloitte wouldn’t even give me an interview… lol
To BA1’s point also: MBB has vastly better exits on average, exclusivity, and a much better brand name in the eyes of recruiters and B-Schools.

Take a quick LinkedIn search, pal. Also your logic is flawed. One B4 firm is probably larger in headcount than all the MBBs. C’mon now.
Overlapping bell curves, folks.

This is hilarious. Thank you for cheering up my Friday afternoon.
Levels to this game - I have T1 MBA, Strategy at D and yeah I can get interviews in desirable roles at FAANGs etc. But there is a delta in just pure prestige, even though capabilities are the same or even stronger I’d probably argue than MBB colleagues they can still yield a stronger exit, even if it’s the same position they’ll certainly get paid a notable % more. A lot of expectations with MBBers - proven ability to work long hours, c-suite facing etc
Yeah MC1 - Not double the salary but certainly higher in the pay band. End of the day, having MBB on resume shows prestige and people will pay a premium for it. Is this difference between Harvard and a Top 20-30 school really that different? No, but it’s Harvard and that’s great for resume
My attitude, for most high achievers, is that you aim for MBB and then fall in the right direction towards T2 or corporate strategy if you don't make the cut. They're in the same vertical but you'd be dumb to advise someone to shoot for T2 over MBB
Responding to AC1 - it’s completely dependent on your execution of a 30 minute case on any given day. You may just have a shi* day for an MBB interview; absolutely kill it with T2. It’s not that T2 had lower expectations; you just performed better on any given day. And also - T2 does NOT mean more chill…it’s just as much of a grind; if not more because you don’t have all of the back office support MBB provides.
Given the choice, those ppl would be at MBB too
