feedback, just have to find out

This post is a perfect example of how far people of color and women have yet to go in this industry. As soon as we start to move into a white, male-dominated court they feel threatened and feel the need to vent about it anonymously on an app. How about you embrace the leveling out of a long uneven playing field and see how diversity can make our ideas and agencies stronger?
@supervisor1 Racism and sexism include an element of power that is fundamental to these terms. A dominant group in a position of power -- here, white men -- can be discriminated against or experience prejudice, but it's neither racism nor sexism. Next time you weigh in on a complex issue with a snarky response, consider digging deeper than dictionary.com.

@CD 1 In your first reply, you say if we didn't hire or promote white men, we'd have no funny commercials. (Yikes, dude.) In your second reply, you claim that at your last three agencies, you claim that straight white men were a minority. (Sounds fake, but okay?) And now, you're arguing that agencies are so white because given the income distribution of America, we should only market to white people. I'm not even going to get into that because your logic is so flawed. All I get from your posts is straight up ignorance; if you're truly a creative director, you need to start coming into this current century.
And y'all still think reverse racism is real, seriously...get over yourself. (thank you @strategydirector1 for trying to explain it to them)

Copywriter, my first reply was a joke. My 2nd reply was straight up factual. My 3rd reply is not condoning in any way the realities of the situation, but it is simply stating why this issue is so fucking hard to deal with. No one wants to admit that racism is built into our economy.
Just because you only know how to sell to white men doesn't mean they are the only people who are buying, racism is built into every aspect of the way our country functions and it all ladders up to benefiting white men. You are afraid because there is no way to even the playing field without taking some of your power away. Get over it. So YES, QUIT HIRING WHITE MEN. Agencies should look at the books and resumes of POC first, as someone stated above there aren't enough minorities who even go into advertising in the first place so your book will still get looked at, you might just have to work twice as hard to get a job until the playing field is evened out - something that POC have been doing all their lives. GET OVER IT.

Can someone define "white men"? What is an Arab, or a Russian, or a Jewish person? Is a Spaniard different from a Mexican or Argentinian? Is it a pigment thing? Whether considering pigment or ethnicity, our office is still majority Non-white male.

when I was younger I spoke the language of MTV, and clients hired me for that work (soda, cereal, sports, and even MTV). Later, I spoke the language of business, and could do work for financial stuff, luxury goods, and high net worth. Later still, I found out I could speak the language of oncology, and actually sit and have dinner with these freaks and they'd trust and engage in what I was saying, and they'd read my stuff and watch my videos, etc. Agencies need to speak the language of the people who are buying the goods. Look at how income is distributed across America, and you'll understand why agencies so white.
Good point LB1 'white men' can also be gay/straight, liberal/conservative, poor/rich, etc. But extremist left hypocrisy lumps them all together.
