Bain & Company Would it look bad on you if you quit your job to focus on case preparation for MBB? I have been in cyber for a year and I am sure it is not sth that I would want to do in future. The nature of risk consulting is also vastly different from management consulting with little transferable skills. Have considered transferring to management consulting in KPMG but honestly not possible due to the manpower crunch in the department. McKinsey & Company Boston Consulting Group Bain & Company

Yes. Because the odds of MBB entry are incredibly low especialy right now, and you can fail a case interview if the interviewer is having a bad day. Don’t do this.

Thanks much for sharing your perspective

I agree, it’s probably better to stay put. Maybe take some PTO to prepare if you feel you need extra time. I also believe that over preparing or placing all bets on that could get you more stressed on the interview day, a bit of adrenaline can be good, but too much probably won’t help.

likesmart

You're better off with less preparation per week spread over a longer period of time, plus real cases at places you don't care much about. You need to prioritize how you spend your time in order to have time for case prep, and actually getting the interview too.

Rule of thumb is that it always looks better to look around while still employed. So if you can stay at your current job while trying to get into MBB, stay put.

As a law student interested in going into the field I’ve seen a lot of negative comments saying that only lawyers who couldn’t get into big law go into PA. Although I know most people try to get into big law initially, it is very competitive and many don’t stay past 2-3 years. You certainly don’t make as much going into PA as a lawyer but the pay is certainly not bad and the WLB is generally much better. Can anyone speak to how they got into PA and if you would rather be working in Big Law

$325k TC at MBB in a non-generalist (still partner track) path. Are WFH industry roles at the $300-500k TC level really that much less stressful?

Which offer should I accept? Currently staff 2 at big 4 in Tax with CPA license. I want to leave tax ASAP. Both are public companies +1B in revenue and same salary. Offer 1 - staff revenue accountant so reading contracts, speaking with the sales team and legal team, a lot of work at the end of the months to close books and reconcile transactions to make sure we are ASC 606 compliant. This track usually leads to director of revenue. Offer 2 - internal audit staff so SOX and compliance projects.

Hi everyone,

I have got the ey hr mail stating i should provide him with aadhar card, information sheet and latest resume for a audit and assurance contract for 6 months as iam a semi qualified CA.

Here my question is should i take this opportunity. Cause since this is only for 6 months. After that, what i can do, where should I try to get the job?

In mid size firms, people won't pay as much as big 4 pays.

Should I take it or am I making a mistake by taking this.

I currently work as an APM at a FAANG company but recently received an offer to join an MBB. I’m very excited about the role but didn’t realize I’d need to take a pay cut when I applied (~100k base + ~20k bonus + ~60k equity vs. 90k base + 10-20k bonus). Considering that I currently work 40-60 hours/week, I’ll be making significantly less per hour at the MBB. I’m very interested in the opportunity but also don’t want to make a poor financial decision early in my career. Thank you for your time!
