Would you leave as a senior associate to be in a director role at an energy company “chief is staff” reporting to CEO and CFO. Leading investor relations?

Sounds suspicious in terms of what a ‘Director’ level means based on a jump from SA. If it’s legit responsibility and salary, go for it!

like

I would be careful given it has high visibility and churn. One misstep and you may be out of the door. I realized we need management experience to deal with upward leadership otherwise you may find yourselves in a lot of sticky situations

like

And oops, “chief of staff”

They are not hiring someone with 5 YOE to truly lead investor relations as a multibillion dollar company. Look at IR teams on LinkedIn. IR head names are often found in 10ks, IR sites and earnings reports, and call transcripts. But IR can be something you work on. Sounds like they just need someone to handle pet projects for executives. Think of the role more like internal corp strat and implementation. Director title may not mean much unless you manage people and there is a serious paycheck.

Sounds like a great opportunity to exit consulting, especially as an SA!

like

Depends what energy vertical.

Also highly doubt a consultant would be leading investor relations with <5 YOE.

Red flag 🚩 tbh (what’s the revenue size ballpark?)

Yup feel free to DM if you need opinion on company reputation. I worked in equity research and now PE for energy

Yes

I have 6 years experience, and it reports to the SVP of sustainability and investor relations

Title is: “Director of Major Projects and Investor Relationships”

Does this sound overly admin?

I talked to CFO, he mentioned “corporate projects “ a lot

Six years into your career, the Chief of Staff role is more administrative than leadership.

This post is an alert message for anyone joining the Johnson & Johnson EMEA account for SAP & had Rakesh Sharma for their Manager round.

He is nothing less than a con man & will promise you a lot to make you join the account. After that he will put you in testing projects. If you ask for a release, he will either not release you or release with a very bad rating and influence other project managers to not take you into their projects.

You will be left with no choice other than leaving TCS.

Ex-consultant now in marketing. Used to be an avid follower here and got great insights on companies when trying to exit consulting so thought I’d try here for advice. Outside of FAANG, what are good large CA-based tech companies that provide good pay, WLB, and culture? DD has great people and WLB, but pay is low and you’re not given the tools and resources to succeed + truly make an impact. Google and Apple are ideal but need backups. Like is Salesforce still good? A company along those lines.
