Strictly speaking from a comp perspective - is it true that the ratio of folks breaking the $1M a year barrier to entering analysts is significantly higher in finance than in high tech?

I’m thinking about turning in my 2 weeks notice at the firm that I’ve worked at 10 years this week. No raise, no bonus, was told that partner track was delayed a few years for a variety of non performance reasons. I met all sales and other goals. I have another job offer I’d like to take from another firm. I ordinarily wouldn’t quit during busy season but this year busy season is literally January 2 - October 15. Thoughts?

What does an Operating Partner at a PE firm make (base/bonus/carry/other benefits)? How hard is it to make that move as a big4 Manager/Senior Manager or is there another way in?

My partner is an Occupational Therapist and she was laid off in March when NYC closed schools and therefore her clinic. Initially she claimed unemployment but they moved to tele-therapy so she’s been earning an hourly rate. However she’s struggling as they are consistently not been paying her the correct amount and with no explanation. She had an employment contract to end of Aug with a 3 month notice period that they did not give to her. Could she possibly force them to pay out her contract?

Any ideas on partner level comp at regional firms? I heard that at my firm (ranked ~20th) partners start at $150k and wonder why anyone would stay for that level of comp. A partner also told me that they have no additional perks above and beyond what managers have, which would be paying for club membership at manager level. Located in Milwaukee for reference.

I started an adv and branding agency during the pandemic. Well, more like a creative collective. Looking for a partner and leader to help get us in front of clients. Willing to offer equity in the agency - and when we're sustainable, salary on top. If anyone here is interested or knows a good place I can search, let me know! What kind of roles in industry pay close to MBB Partner compensation in industry?

BCG fish - is partner still an equity partner position at BCG or does one have to be an MDP to start earning equity.
If so what is avg. partner salary ?

Just a general question from someone new to consulting and the workforce. Do most people leave consulting solely for jobs that are more rewarding/ of interest to them? In terms of comp, is it right to say that staying in consulting and making it to partner is way more than someone can make exiting to industry, unless they are able to get a high up/ executive position?

My partner is a PhD student, US resident alien, and Indian national who has been a student in the US for 6-7 years now. He’s struggling to find a tax filing platform which’ll allow him to report income from fellowships and PhD salary, and also claim India-US tax treaty benefits. Does anyone know where he can get started?

Hello 🐟 - qq for you all. I’m currently in tax and just got promoted to senior associate. I currently make $84K and am working on a XLOS project with an advisory team. Once my project concludes I was going to make a case to switch over to advisory and let my current partner know. I’ve spoken with the advisory partner and he told me he is on board but that I should wait until the pandemic is over since they are on a hiring freeze. Does anyone know what my new salary would be if I switched over?

Looking to join a small VC as a partner and wondering how much carry I should negotiate for. I will be the third partner in a second fund of ~$100M. First fund was very successful (3.5x after a couple of years).

For reference, my current total comp is ~$400k-500k, depending on the bonus this year.

How much carry should I ask for? For reference I’m currently an Associate Partner and make ~$400-500k TC (depending on the bonus).

Beginning to wonder if I am underpaid. 15 YOE, at a firm where principal is the level just below partner. $193k base. This is the least transparent bonus structure I’ve ever seen - last year it was $20k after receiving a top rating, and that bonus amount is apparently considered “very high.” Reasonable or low?

Really frustrated with infertility & big law. Lost out on bonus last year because I was out for multiple surgeries and partner would take me off deals because I couldn’t jump in and out (cont...)

Thoughts on a late 1st year going in-house? I'm getting close to an offer with a decent corp, in a dream location (Miami) with equal or slightly increased salary (cravath scale). My story is unique because I had significant experience prior to law school that makes me somewhat marketable to the company. While I'm well aware of my limited practice knowledge, I don't feel like I'm actually learning in my current role anyway. I also have zero interest in making partner. Is this too soon to jump?

My partner is looking for a new job as her company recently cut her salary and was a mess before COVID. I feel stuck in my current role and also want to find a new job. Is it too risky for us both to start a new job this year? I have job security, but don’t feel challenged anymore and want to move on...

Have any of you told your family how much money you make? My family has never asked but I feel like my partner’s family is always trying to figure it out and it makes me uncomfortable. They assume that I make a lot because I’m an attorney. I often get comments like “well you can afford it because you’re a lawyer.” I do well for myself but I am far from rich. I am so grateful to have a job but I’d rather not disclose my salary to anyone other than the IRS.

If you made $225k total comp pre-tax and lived in HCOL area (but not quite NYC bad), how much would you spend on rent? Assume you’re debt free and will largely be WFH and live with a partner who also is WFH. So good space is important (not living the traveling consultant life). Partner can contribute but not a ton ($800-1000/month). Trying to figure this out. Thanks for any thoughts/insights on how you’d think about this.

I did 2.5 years at big 4 14’ to 17’ then tech sales until 12/19’ came back to big 4 and hating hours. I’m crushing it and on fast track, guy who got me back in made partner and my RL did. I’m crushing the hardest role on the project with my RP on it. I’ve been back 6 months. $130k base

How much does a Big 4 Partner in NY/NJ make in Assurance vs Advisory? I’m being recruited to a Big 4 but they’ve been hesitant to discuss comp and differences so I want to know if it’s worth my time

This might be different by firm. Partners, is this a good or bad year to make partner? Comp will likely be lower for P’s next year than, say, two years ago. But will buy-in be lower as well? Is this a good “buy low” year for making partner?

Apologies if this has been asked already, but does anyone know if partner comp varies widely among MBB? Or do they shake out the same (on average, not counting fluctuations year to year)

Anyone else think it's bizarre to be repeatedly asked if you want to be a partner by the current partners, but without any indication of what your compensation or buy in would be?
