Hey OW 🐠, quick question: How different are Oliver Wyman salaries in San Francisco vs Chicago?

Where would you pick to live for the next 2 years, San Francisco or NYC? Salary is the same. Im 25 male and in a long term relationship where my S/O is going back to school in a different city, and kind a wanna try something new.

Any nice places to go for a week long vacation in the US? Thinking some place like San Diego but Airbnbs are pretty expensive. Any other highly recommended places with decently priced lodging??

Just got the confirmation that I’m now a remote worker - so I can finally move out of the northeast and explore another part of the country. I’m single M - 29 years old like to be active(run, bike, tennis), be close to body of water, love the sun and tropical climate. Am looking at Florida (st. Pete and Fort Lauderdale), Colorado, and California (San Diego) anyone around my age have thoughts about places I’ve mentioned and or others I should look at?

I'm looking for a place to visit in early December for one to two weeks, preferably warm and in the U.S.. So far my top ideas are San Diego or Phoenix/Sedona. Has anyone visited either area in December and have recommendations? Or suggestions for other destinations? Solo male if that helps.

I have read many posts here regarding recommendation on places to live. I don't see anyone mentioning the east side- Pasadena, San Gabriel etc. Why these areas are not recommended?

Is $140k + 10% bonus reasonable in San Fran? Unable to negotiate higher base. Role is for corporate finance strategy. I have 4.5 YOE, currently in FDD. Medical benefits are fully covered and 401k employer match is 14k a year fully vested upon employer contribution. Is this a good offer?

Going to Austin for F1 race in October for the first time. Race is Friday-Sunday. Planning on staying and checking out Austin Monday and Tuesday. I’m on vacation 5 more days (thru sunday). Grew up in suburbia and hated it as a teenager because, let's face it suburban life can be boring as hell and sometimes a mundane mediocre crowd.
But now that we have a baby, loving the larger homes, extra space and calm jogging roads.
Am I gonna hate it? Am I gonna become a Soccer mom?
Need to move somewhere larger either way, just wondering if this place is the right choice.

Anyone taken the Amtrak north from LA to San Luis Obispo or Santa Barbara? Is it a nice ride with views? Worth taking an extra hour or two compared to driving?

General Bay Area housing question but looking to move my family up in early 2022 timeframe for my new job at Apple (Cupertino). Wife and I are early to mid-thirties and would have 2 kids by the time of the move (toddler and a newborn) along with our cat and dog. We currently have a 3 bdrm house in North County San Diego so would be looking for something of similar size (at least bedrooms wise). LA vs San Diego? Can someone tell me the pros and cons of each city? I want to move to the west coast in the next year or so and debating between the two cities. San Diego looks like a beautiful city but seems to lack diversity from what I heard.
